2017 Chrysler Pacifica
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has been changing the common view of minivans since it was released earlier this year. The Pacifica’s modern tech and style inside and out is challenging the minivan stereotype.
Though still fairly new to the market, the all-new Chrysler Pacifica is award-winning minivan that has a long list of awards. Some of the most notable awards are the Affordable Panoramic Sunroof award at Topless in Miami, and being named to WardsAuto’s lists of Ten Best User Experience List and Ten Best Interiors List.
With the past positive experience Chrysler had with the Chrysler Town & Country, Chrysler designed the all-new Chrysler Pacifica with safety in mind. The Pacifica has over 100 available safety features and it is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Additionally, the Pacifica is full of “firsts” in its class, including the first hybrid minivan when the Pacifica Hybrid debuts in late 2016.
Pentastar V6 Engine
Engine + Performance
The Pacifica lineup consists of five different trims, and that will grow to six trims when the Pacifica Hybrid is released later this year (late 2016). The Pacifica’s base trim, the Pacifica LX, is equipped with excellent standard features and the Pacifica Limited comes fully-loaded with the most-up-to-date tech and convenience features.
Pentastar Engine + Performance
All of the Pacifica trims feature the same 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. The engine is paired to a TorqueFlite nine-speed automatic transmission. The Pacifica produces an impressive 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, and it has a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, which is enough to tow a couple jet skis. The Pacifica has an excellent average fuel economy of 18 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway.
Pacifica Hybrid - Coming Soon!
When released, the Pacifica Hybrid will be the first hybrid minivan ever. The Pacifica Hybrid will be equipped with a modified 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine paired with two electric motors and a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery. The battery alone can power the Pacifica for 30 miles. When the battery and engine work together, the Pacifica Hybrid can achieve 80 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent).
Modern Exterior + Interior Style
The all-new Chrysler Pacifica is a unique and modern looking minivan that has exterior and interior features that set it apart from all other minivans. The Pacifica’s front grille is nearly identical to the sleek and sophisticated front grille on the Chrysler 200. The Pacifica rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels and is equipped with sliding doors that can be opened and closed via the key fob or by lifting the door handle. The Pacifica is also equipped with halogen headlights and high beam daytime running lights for extra safety.
The Chrysler Pacifica comes standard as a seven passenger minivan, and families that need a little extra space can make the Pacifica an eight-passenger minivan with an available different middle bench seat. The Pacifica offers 140.5 cubic feet of cargo volume in the Pacifica, so there is definitely a lot of space. Just like the Town & Country that the Pacifica replaces, the new minivan is equipped with second- and third-row Stow ‘N Go storage system. This feature makes it possible for the seats to actually fold into the floor leaving tons of flat storage room.
The Pacifica comes standard with cloth seating, but leather is an available option. The minivan has plenty of auxiliary power outlets, so multiple people can charge their mobile devices at once. For comfort and convenience in long road trips, the Pacifica has three-zone A/C temperature control so no one needs to fight over the temperature. Parents looking for the ultimate convenience might opt for the Pacifica Limited, which is available with the award-winning tri-pane panoramic sunroof and the Stow ‘n Vac, a built-in vacuum cleaner.
Connectivity + Entertainment
Above Standard Entertainment
Entertainment and tech is another category that the Pacifica excels in. Every Pacifica is equipped with a 5- or 8.4-inch touchscreen depending on the trim. The touchscreen screen displays the music and entertainment options such as SiriusXM, Bluetooth connections, and AM/FM. The base model Pacifica comes with a great six-speaker audio system, whereas the higher level trims come with a 13- or 20-speaker Alpine audio system.
Uconnect Theater Package
In addition to those features, the Pacifica is also available with one of the best entertainment packages available. The Uconnect Theater Package is complete with two 10.1-inch high definition seatback screens, each connected to a DVD and Blu-ray players. The system can connect to games, play movies or TV shows via a CD, USB or Bluetooth. The Uconnect Theater Package also includes wireless headphones so everyone can listen to their own program without disturbing anyone else.
Safety, Warranty + Pricing
Safety is a number one priority for a family vehicle, which is why the Pacifica was made with safety in mind. This IIHS Top Safety Pick+ minivan is loaded with a bunch of standard features, and options including a variety of airbags and a standard backup camera. Available preventative safety features include the 360-degree Surround View camera, park assist, lane departure warning, adaptive stop and go cruise control and many more.
Warranty and Pricing
The price for the base model Pacifica begins at just $28,595 and goes up to about $42,495 for the fully loaded highest trim level (the Limited).
Warranties include a basic three year or 36,000 mile warranty and a five year or 60,000 mile powertrain warranty.
