Engine + Trims
For the 2017 model year, there are six Renegade trims and two engine options. Two of the six trims are the special-edition models, the Renegade Deserthawk and Altitude trims. The other trims include the Renegade Sport (base trim), Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk.
There are two engine options for the 2017 Renegade, which are unchanged from the previous model years. The base engine is the 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces up to 160 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The Renegade Trailhawk and Limited trims come standard with an upgraded 2.4-liter Tigershark 4-cylinder engine. This engine offers drivers a little more power as it pushes out 180 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.
InteriorSliding into the Renegade, the interior is surprisingly spacious and comfortable. The vehicle seats five adults comfortably, and the seats come standard with black cloth. Other interior features like low-back bucket seats, a silver shift knob, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel all come standard as well.
ExteriorThe style of the Renegade has changed slightly, but has the same boxy and aggressive look as before. Of course features such as the seven-slot grille have not and probably will never be changed or altered. When it comes to the exterior of the Jeep Renegade even the base level trim has great features like 16-inch steel wheels, all-season tires, a capless fuel filler, and black exterior mirrors.
The Jeep Renegade has plenty of optional upgrades for buyers that want a more luxurious feel and some of those features are standard on higher level trims like the Renegade Limited and Trailhawk. Interior options like leather seating, heated front seats, a power 8-way driver's seat, and 40/20/40 folding rear seats with trunk access are available. Exterior options including a black painted roof, black side roof rails, MySky removable roof panels, a MySky power sunroof and many more features are available for certain trims.
Technology features for both safety and entertainment are above what you would expect, even for standard features. Safety features such as advanced multistage airbags, an electronic park brake, electronic stability control, panic brake assist, and more come standard. There are of course extra safety options for those who want them. Available options include a rearview backup camera, speed control (great for teen drivers), keyless go and a remote start system, and several more.
When it comes to entertainment, drivers will never be bored on morning commutes with a Renegade. A four-speaker audio system, a media hub with USB and AUX capability, and radio 3.0 all come standard in the Renegade. Other options including a five-inch touchscreen, UConnect 5.0 infotainment system with voice command and Bluetooth technology, SiriusXM radio and a BeatsAudio system are available or standard features depending on the trim.
New Special Editions
Jeep Renegade Deserthawk
As mentioned above the Deserthawk and Altitude are new to the lineup and they are special edition Renegades, so get one while you can! The Deserthawk is basically a “desert” style version of the Renegade Trailhawk. It includes the Renegade Trailhawk’s same badging, 2.4-liter engine, red tow hooks, and off-road features. The difference between the Renegade Trailhawk and the Renegade Deserthawk is in the style. The Renegade Deserthawk comes in a sandy tan color (like the desert), with a camo hood decal, and unique Deserthawk badging.
Jeep Renegade Altitude
The Renegade Altitude is a glossy, black beauty! The vehicle has 18-inch gloss black wheels, gloss black badging, gloss black accents on the tail lamps and grille rings and an all black interior. Features such as a rearview camera and push-to-start button come standard in the Renegade Altitude as well. The engine is the 1.4-liter engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission, however an automatic transmission as well as the 2.4-liter engine are available.
Price and Warranty
