Engine + Capabilities
Ram 2500 trims
The 2017 Ram 2500 lineup is available in eight trims that vary from work trucks to highly luxurious trucks. The base trim is the Ram 2500 Tradesman and the upper level trim is the Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn. In 2017, the redesigned Ram Power Wagon will join the pack and shake things up a bit. Ram 2500 models include three cab configurations -- the two-door three-passenger regular cab; four-door six-passenger crew cab; and the larger four-door six passenger or mega cab. Additionally there are three different sizes for the truck bed and all Ram 2500 models are available with a 2x4 or 4x4 drivetrain.
There are four engine options available on 2017 Ram 2500 models. Options include a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo diesel, a heavy-duty 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, and a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine with VVT.
Interior + Exterior Styling
The bodystyle for the Ram 2500 is pretty much unchanged from the previous model year. No matter what the trim the 2500 has a rugged exterior and a comfortable interior. Standard 2500 exterior features include 17-inch steel wheels, Firestone all season tires, and a tire carrier winch. Other features that are optional (or standard on upper level trims) include off-road tires, aluminum or steel 18- or 20-inch wheels, clearance lamps and LED bed lighting.
Standard inside all Ram 2500 models is a 40/20/40 split folding bench seat, cloth seating, black vinyl floor covering, and armrests with cup holders. There are of course always other interior options such as leather seats, a chrome accent shift knob, bucket seats, a leather wrapped steering wheel and so much more.
There is also an available off-road package for the 2017 Ram 2500. This package includes exterior features like large open-loop front tow hooks, a rear slip-differential, Bilstein shocks, all-terrain tires, and larger fender flares in either black or the trucks body color. The off-road package allows the Ram 2500 a more athletic and aggressive look than before while adding much more off-road capability for those who like to go where the blacktop ends.
Technology, Safety, Pricing
Vehicle technology features generally serve as one of two purposes, safety or entertainment and Ram does its best to include all the most up-to-date technology in their truck each year. Ram 2500 models are equipped with standard entertainment features like a six-speaker audio system, an audio jack, a media hub with a USB outlet, and radio 3.0. Buyers also have the option of a 5- or 8.4-inch touchscreen display with a UConnect system with navigation, SiriusXM radio, 9 Alpine speakers with a subwoofer, and much more.
Safety is always an important feature for vehicles, but especially trucks as they tend to be involved in work and off-roading adventures. That is why Ram did all they can to make the 2500 as safe as possible. The 2017 Ram 2500 includes safety features and technology like ABS, bright halogen headlamps, advanced multistage airbags, Sentry Key, speed control, and a tire pressure monitoring display. There is also a rearview backup camera, preventative safety tech systems and many airbags throughout the car.
