Jeep Adventures At The Tip Of Your Fingers

2018-Jeep-adventure-reality-app-kendall-dodgeTechnology really is a beautiful thing, especially when it comes to Jeep. From building your very own Jeep Wrangler to embracing the off-road life – the Jeep Adventure app, Jeep Badge of Honor and the Jeep Off-Road Pages allow consumers to experience the legendary capability of the Jeep Brand using augmented and virtual reality.

Jeep Adventure Reality App

What if customers not only had the ability to design their own Jeep Wrangler, plus see just how good it would look in their driveway, without ever leaving their home? Cue to the Jeep Adventure Reality App. The Jeep Adventure Reality App offers users the ability to configure their very own 2018 Jeep Wrangler right in their hands. According to Jeep, users can choose trims, change colors, switch wheels, try tops and doors off or on and design their very own personalized interior cabin.

What’s interesting about this app is once the user has completed building their Wrangler, they can actually sit inside the Jeep. Once the Jeep of choice is built, users will then have the ability to explore the interior then digitally place the user inside the cabin of the Jeep. Afterward, with only moving the smartphone, users can move from left to right, zoom in and out and depending on where they point the phone, the interior of the Jeep will be displayed. Also, it’s the augmented reality aspect that lets users see the Jeep in their own driveway or even in their living room which is what really sets the app apart from being just another configurator.

But wait there’s more! Not only can users build their very own Jeep Wrangler but after they finish building their vehicle, consumers can find a dealer and search through new inventory to find a Jeep much like the one they just built – prices may vary.

Jeep Badge of Honor

“The program started back in 2013, and since then we’ve shipped over 33,000 badges,” said Jeep Product Marketing Associate Brandon Girmus. “We average about 1,000 badges per month and Jeep Badges of Honor are available for 49 current trials in 17 states. The best part is the program is entirely free with no cost to users.”

A brand-sponsored mobile app, the Jeep Badge of Honor awards hard badges to those users who off-road on about a dozen trails across the country. Jeep has specifically chosen off-roading trails for users to explore while also having the ability to browse their selections, see other users photos, save favorites, trail directions, information, highlights, and difficulty ratings. According to Jeep – everytime the user logs in, explores new trails and/or engage with the Badge of Honor community, they can earn Trail Points to level up to higher achievement ranks. Hard badges are awarded to those who have checked-in and also completed a trail. Those badges include:

  •  Rubicon Trail

Located in Lake Tahoe, CA, the Rubicon Trail is a 22-mile-long route that’s half road/half trail. Users can pass through the El Dorado National Forest while hosting a plethora of obstacles like Thousand Dollar Hill, Loon Lake and Gatekeeper – Just to name a few.

  •  Cliffhanger

Considered one of the more difficult trails, the Cliff Hanger allows users to tackle rock obstacles while enjoying a beautiful view of Moab, UT.

  • Black Bear Pass

CAUTION! EXPERT OFF-ROADERS ONLY! Black Bear Pass is located in Telluride, CO – right about Bridal Veil Falls, this mile-long trail turns into a one-way only. Users can also enjoy the beautiful views of Red Mountain pass and Bridal Veil Falls.

  • Crawl Daddy

According to Jeep, this trail is one of several multifaceted routes located in Rausch Creek Off-Road Park with a difficulty range of “Moderate” to “Very Challenging”. Consisting of almost 3,000 acres of trails ranging from easy, intermediate and hard, this trail is perfect for any kind of off-roader.

Jeep Off-Road Pages

After making its debut in the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokees, the off-road pages provide useful and helpful information in terms of the Jeep’s off-road systems while improving the driving experience. Through the Jeep Grand Cherokees available 8.4 Uconnect 4C NAV System,  Off-Road Pages allows drivers to view the vehicles diagnostics like suspension, selec-terrain, and gauges while on an off-roading adventure. Plus, drivers can also monitor the basic essentials like oil, coolant and transmission temperatures.

The Jeep Off-Road Pages are especially helpful for those consumers interested in purchasing the all-new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The high-performance Grand Cherokee Trackhawk can tackle pretty much any terrain or track thanks to its standard Quadra-Trac Active On-Demand 4xx4 System with adaptive damping.

Jeep is certainly turning heads with these awesome (and useful) smartphone and infotainment display features. 2019 Jeep Cherokee Was Revealed at NAIAS — It Looks Great

2019-Jeep-Cherokee-Limited-KDCJRWith a third engine option and a refreshed front fascia, there’s a lot to talk about with the redesigned 2019 Jeep Cherokee. A compact SUV that is no stranger to making waves, the new Jeep Cherokee has a new available 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four cylinder engine with modern start/stop. Promoting better fuel economy for a Jeep Cherokee family that currently doesn’t provide outstanding MPG (25 MPG combined on the 2018 version).

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee will come standard with a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine with 180 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The next tier available is a 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which provides 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque as well. And the latest edition to the Cherokee family is the all-new 2.0L engine option, which increases fuel economy and cranks out 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. A noticeable change for a brand that hopes to gain more of a following with this gas saving engine.

Though the nine-speed automatic carries over from the previous year, there’s new software that helps overall driveability for the new engine option. The overall weight of the vehicle is lowered by 200 pounds to improve performance and driving efficiency, as a new polymer tailgate is among the changes that help shave off some weight. Lighter weight provides for a faster pick-up and better fuel economy as well.

The new 2019 Jeep Cherokee has been remodeled to provide more cargo space, increasing available storage space to around 4 cubic feet. This allows ample space for items like golf clubs to go in your Cherokee easily as opposed to being stored at an awkward angle.

Cosmetic changes from the Jeep and the grille go back to this generation’s first frontal facelift back in 2013. The traditional headlamps changed from the flat Jeep front-end round headlamps to a nice curvy front and the new 2019 Cherokee model has added a larger grille with LED headlamps and daytime running lights with a new hood and different fender design, while keeping the Cherokee’s unique look.

Other features added to the 2019 Cherokee trims include Overland trim receiving new chrome steel tow hooks. The back end of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee is also different. With a cool design that’s slightly different than the previous edition, curving at the ends.

Another new feature includes the hands-free power liftgate and a new interior center console resigned for the 2019 edition. Subtle features that often go unnoticed, but we’ve caught them all and can’t wait to share them with you when you join us for a future test-drive!

Visit Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram for all the latest Jeep vehicles and servicing. We’re home to some of the finest professionals that ensure you will love your new vehicle. We’ll be receiving the new 2019 Jeep Cherokee later this year, so be sure to stay tuned.

How-to Remove and Install the Soft-Top on Jeep Wrangler

As the brand known for taking people to where they need to go regardless of terrain, Jeep has always been a popular vehicle among surfers. To make the relationship between the Jeep brand and surfers a little more solid, the Jeep brand partnered up with the World Surf League a few years back and the partnership has been growing ever since.

Recently, a couple pro surfers, Courtney Conlogue and Malia Manuel, worked with Jeep to make a few videos showing the step-by-step process of how to remove and install a Jeep Wrangler’s soft-top.

How-to Remove the Soft Top

Removing the Soft Top is a bit easier as it requires a lot of unzipping and minimal heavy lifting.

  • Step One
    • Release the header latches by unclipping the sun visors and leave it open for the moment
  • Step Two
    • Remove the swing gate bar by opening the swing gate and side panels
  • Step Three
    • Unzip and remove the rear window panel
  • Step Four
    • Expose the side window panel zipper by opening up the velcro and then unzip to remove them
      • Tip: Store panels vertically to avoid scratching
  • Step Five
    • Untuck the sail panels from the corners and fold them on the top
  • Step Six
    • Fold down the soft top in a “W” shape and make sure to carefully secure it before driving
  • Step Seven – Final Step
    • Secure the side bows using the velcro straps

How-to Install the Soft Top

  • Step One
    • Release the header latches underneath the sun visors from the loops on the windshield frame
  • Step Two
    • In order to install the rear door rails, insert the door frame pin into the hole located at the top of the body side behind the rear door opening
    • Soft top will later click to each door frame
  • Step Three
    • Position and push the top of the door frame onto the metal sport bar
  • Step Four
    • In order to clip the front of the door rail over the sidebar, put the front of the door frame in the rubber seal located at the top of the windshield
  • Step Five
    • Secure and tighten both knobs, starting with the front first, and repeat for both sides.
  • Step Six
    • Loosen the rear sunrider straps and carefully raise the side bows up and forward until it reaches the windshield then lock in place
  • Step Seven
    • After raising the soft top from the rear, slide it all the way forward until it locks.
    • Flip down the Header Latches and insert into the windshield slots – do not close the Header Latches yet.
  • Step Eight
    • Carefully pull the Sail Panels, at the rear of the vehicle, over the Four Bow. Then, slide them forward into the rear
  • Step Nine
    • Using the velcro edge, secure the top rear corner of the rear quarter window into place. Zip the window open about two inches starting at the forward edge.
  • Step Ten
    • To install the back windows, zip the window completely closed and put the velcro cover back in place. Repeat for the other side
      • Tip: Before zipping the window, tuck in the door rail retainer. Then, turn and tuck the “U” shaped slot into the c-pillar groove
  • Step Eleven
    • While making sure the Sail Panels are somewhat released, set the Rear Window in the Swing Gate and zip from the left side first.
  • Step Twelve
    • Roll the swing gate bar back into the brackets
      • Tip: To help tuck the rear window retainers into the tailgate retainers and sail panels into the body side, pull down on the four bow.
  • Step Thirteen – Final Step
    • Close the header latches and clip the sun visors in place

Compact SUV Comparison: 2018 Jeep Cherokee v. 2018 Toyota RAV4

rav4 JEEP

Compact SUVs are one of the most popular vehicle classes right now. Compact SUVs not only offer the convenience of a spacious cabin for cargo and passengers, but their compact size makes them easy and fun to drive. Two great contenders in the compact SUV class are the Toyota RAV4 and the Jeep Cherokee, and though they have some similarities, they both have some differences. Here’s a closer look.

Engine and Performance

Taking a closer look, the 2018 Jeep Cherokee has a 2.4-liter engine with 9-speed transmission that can provide up to 184 horsepower and the Toyota RAV4 is equipped with a 2.5-liter engine with 6-speed transmission that produces 176 horsepower. While the difference in horsepower isn’t huge, the Cherokee does produce more horsepower than the RAV4.

The Jeep Cherokee is available with a four-wheel-drive system and the Toyota RAV4 is available with an all-wheel-drive system. While both systems provide excellent support in ice or snow, four-wheel-drive systems are a little more favorable among people that like to off-road.

Both vehicles are fairly similar when driving both on and off-road, in terms of stability and handling, neither vehicle holds an edge over the other.

The 2018 RAV4 and Jeep Cherokee are both five-passenger compact SUVs and are nearly identical in terms of length, width and height. However, the cabin of the Jeep Cherokee offers backseat passengers a lot more legroom than the Toyota RAV4. The Jeep Cherokee has 40.3 inches of legroom for backseat passengers and the Toyota RAV4 has 37.2 inches, which is 3.1 inches less than the Cherokee and that makes a big difference for tall passengers.

Interior features of the 2018 Jeep Cherokee include the Uconnect infotainment system with color touch screen displays to control everything from the AM/FM radio, CD player and a slot for SD cards allows for MP3s to play, with controls to change your music from the steering wheel for hands free use. You can use the Bluetooth hands-free system to keep your focus on driving while you use the Integrated Voice Command to make phone calls.

The Entune navigation system for the RAV4 includes voice recognition and navigation features, including Bluetooth technology and hands free calling with almost any smartphone.

Safety features for both vehicles include 4-wheel anti-lock braking systems with stability and traction control. The Jeep Cherokee however does include in the event of a collision the Enhanced Accident Response System, which shuts off the engine, unlocks every door and cuts fuel flow. This is not a feature with the Toyota RAV4.

When it comes to comparing the prices of the base trims of each model, the 2018 Jeep Cherokee Latitude MSRP starting at $23,495 (plus destination fee) is slightly more affordable than the 2018 Toyota RAV4 LE (MSRP starting at $24,410 (plus destination fee). When it comes to comparing the prices of the top trims offered by each model, there is a bit of a price difference and the Cherokee is more affordable. The top Jeep Cherokee 4×2 trim is the Cherokee Overland, which has a starting MSRP of $34,095 (plus destination fee), however, the top Jeep Cherokee 4×4 trim is the Cherokee Limited 4×4 and it has a starting MSRP of $31,295 (plus destination fee). The Toyota RAV4’s top 4×2 trim is the RAV4 Platinum and it has a starting price of $34,750 (plus destination fee) and the top 4×4 trim is the RAV4 Platinum AWD and it has a starting MSRP of $36,150 (plus destination fee).

More luxurious and higher-performance at a lower cost, the 2018 Jeep Cherokee outshines the 2018 Toyota RAV4. Consider the 2018 Jeep Cherokee when you visit Kendall Dodge Jeep Chrysler Ram today!

Why There Are Holes In Jeep Wrangler JL Fenders

For first time Jeep owners there’s one feature that might go unnoticed on the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL. But previous model year Wrangler owners would notice this almost immediately if driving the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL.

What might that be? New fender vents for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL. A unique issue would arise when previous Jeep models would reach over 25 mph. A noticeable sound would echo from the air pressure created under the hood. This sound left many owners to deal with this problem in a number of ways, but this headache has been removed entirely with a smart new design change for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL!

Jeep engineers fixed the problem with a new front fender that includes holes on the sides of the front base that allow for air to move through. The tension and sound has all but entirely vanished.

“Hood flutter” as the noise was known is now a thing of the past and the addition creates a recognizable change to the design for those who know where to look. The new fender vents fix a problem and create a distinct cosmetic feature for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL.

You can find the redesigned 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL and more right now at %%di_name%%. Come see what we have in store for you today!

2019 Jeep Cherokee Refresh Announced by Jeep

Jeep just made the official announcement that the iconic Jeep Cherokee will have a refreshed design for the 2019 model year and its new look will be on display on at the North American InternationalAuto Show on January 16, 2018.

The refresh of the Jeep Cherokee renews and revitalizes one of Jeep’s top selling vehicles. According to photos published on the FCA media site, the redesigned 2019 Jeep Cherokee has been given a facelift on the outside and in the inside. Most notably, the refresh replaces the unpopular split-headlamp design and slightly changed the grill design, moving away from the previous look with a shifted rake angle and smaller spacing between each slat.

But what exactly makes the Jeep Cherokee look iconic? Every brand has their unique vehicle in each class that serves as the most well-known and popular trims. Cherokee has represented that for Jeep by serving as the powerful, luxury SUV. Cherokees paved the way decades ago with a great design, attractive pricing and building brand loyalty. The signature Jeep grill and raw power attached to driving a Cherokee has not changed.

This new 2018 Jeep Cherokee refresh provides a brand-new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and joins the Jeep Renegade and Compass equipping the nine-speed automatic gearbox. Containing the proper horsepower you’d expect in this latest generation roll out, you’ll be able to get there easily in one of the better compact SUVs on the market today.

The current trims no longer include the Sport for the 2018 Cherokee model. The Cherokee Latitude is the base model, the Latitude Plus is the mid-tier and Cherokee Trailhawk and Limited have added standard features to include blind-spot monitoring and rear parking sensors.

Visit Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram to check out our available Jeep Cherokee trims or to find out more information on how you can drive the new refreshed Cherokee when it arrives!

Available and Standard Off-Road Equipment on Jeep 4×4 Models

OffRoadingSystem_KendallChryslerJeepDodgeRam-500x312Considered the backbone of the Jeep brand, Jeep’s range of 4×4 technology systems allow drivers to make their own path. With more than 75 years underneath their belt, there’s no reason why drivers shouldn’t trust the Jeep brand. However, for those who have doubt, here’s a closer look at how amazing Jeep’s 4×4 technology really is.

Off-Road Differentials

Off-Road differentials are used to transfer power to the wheels while off-roading for increased traction. Considered one of the most important components of 4×4 driving, Jeep vehicles include mechanical, electronic, or brake-assisted differentials.

Front Sway Bar Disconnect System

A sway bar is a suspension component that is designed to reduce the amount of vehicle roll in sharp turns. However, sway bars limit a vehicle’s maximum articulation, which is something important when rock crawling, so Jeep created the the Front Sway Bar Disconnect System. The Front Sway Bar Disconnect System automatically disengages the front sway bar when driving under 18 mph in 4 Low mode.

Skid Plates and Rock Rails

When off-roading, it’s pretty common to come across things, like rocks or tree branches, that can damage a vehicle, so Jeep equips many models with extra equipment like skid plates and rock rails to protect important vehicle components. The skid plates Jeep uses on their vehicles are high-strength steel plates, so they are strong enough to prevent sharp materials from breaking through the plate.

Body-On-Frame Design

Meant primarily for strength and durability, the Body-on-Frame Design, which is standard on the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, is more resistant to impacts and twisting forces. For those serious off-roaders, this is especially useful when battling difficult rock challenges.

DANA 44 Heavy-Duty Solid Axles

According to Jeep, durability comes from heavy shafts, stiff housings, large pinion bearings and above-center pinion mounting for smoother, quieter operations. The DANA 44 heavy-duty axle is standard on the Rubicon and the DANA 30, which is standard on any other Jeep Model.

Interested in going on an off-roading adventure of your own? Come stop by Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram located in Miami, FL to test drive one of our 2018 Jeep Models or visit our website for available 2018 inventory.

Jeep Has Some Changes Planned for the Jeep Cherokee

Kendall 2018 Jeep Cherokee

Any Jeep enthusiasts out there with a Jeep® Cherokee? What do you think of it? Some would say it’s nothing fancy whereas others would say it’s not very attractive in reference to other Jeep models. Not only would those people be wrong, seeing as how the Cherokee has the most popular 4×4 system shared across several models in the Jeep lineup, but high sales for the Cherokee make all claims of it being ugly simply a myth. Still, for those who think the Cherokee could benefit from changes with vehicles like the Jeep Wrangler entering a new generation, we have some good news for you. The Jeep Cherokee is getting a bit of a facelift.

According to CarBuzz.com, Jeep designers have decided to give the front-end of the Jeep Cherokee a makeover. Many liken the look of the Jeep Cherokee’s front fascia to a hammerhead shark. Honestly, we don’t see it, but alas, the front-end of this off-road wheeler will show a resemblance to its big brother, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, or its cousin, the Jeep Compass, with a redesign set for the 2019 model year. The 2019 models may even be available in mid-2018 if all goes well.

2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Takes the Stage at LA Auto Show

Kendall LA Auto Show 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

At this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2018 Jeep® Wrangler JL finally debuted. Although there’s been plenty of spy shots and even a leaked 2018 Jeep Wrangler manual, we didn’t really know what the next-generation Wrangler JL would be like, until now.

3.6-liter V6

This year, Jeep has upped the ante with new engine options and a reduction in the vehicle’s weight, that improves handling, fuel economy, and power. Returning to the Wrangler is the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine, which is capable of generating 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Tweaked a bit with an engine start-stop (ESS) system, the engine turns itself off when idling and that can conserve fuel economy. The 3.6L engine can be paired to a six-speed manual transmission or the optional new eight-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with a manual transmission and V6 engine, the fuel economy of the Wrangler JL stands at 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. When equipped with an automatic transmission and V6 engine, the Wrangler JL averages 18/23 mpg city/highway.
