Three Off-Roading Places Not Far From South Florida

Jeep-Florida-off-roading-kendall-jeep

We hope every Jeeper gets some time to go off-roading at one of Florida’s off-road parks this summer. Not only is a lot of fun to test out your Jeep in mud or by crawling over obstacles, it’s also a lot of fun and a great way to meet other Jeepers. While there aren’t any off-road parks in South Florida, there are a lot of great off-road parks that you can drive to in less than three hours and here are a couple of our favorite.

Lazy Springs Recreation Park

9591 FL-82, Felda, FL 33930
Hours: Friday 5-7:30 p.m.; Saturday sunrise- 7:30 p.m.; Sunday sunrise- 7 p.m.

Lazy Springs Recreation Park is within close proximity to Lee, Collier and Hendry counties and it is one of the larger parks below central Florida. The park is more than 375 acres and it offers everything from off-roading to fishing to motocross. 4X4 vehicles have access to two areas, a mudding area, an obstacle course and a crawling area — so Jeepers can test their vehicle’s capabilities in a number of terrains.

Redneck Mud Park

44570 Bermont Rd, Punta Gorda, FL 33982
Hours: Park is only open for events and is not open every weekend. Event schedule is available at redneckmudpark.com.

The Redneck Mud Park is a huge off-road facility located in Punta Gorda, Florida. The 800-acre park consists of four mud holes, a mud track, vehicle washing stations, camping areas, food vendors and bathrooms. The park has excellent features for all types of vehicles ranging from smaller vehicles to huge trucks equipped with extreme lifts.

JW Corbett Wildlife Management Area

11835 Seminole Pratt Whitney Rd, West Palm Beach, FL 33412
Hours: Open 24 hours

Redneck Mud Park and Lazy Springs Recreation Area are both known for having big and rowdy crowds, so if that’s not your scene, but you want to take your vehicle somewhere that the roads aren’t paved, head out to JW Corbett Wildlife Management Area. The park is not an off-roading park, but it has tons of trails to drive on and they can get quite challenging. It’s a great place to spend the day, driving around to the various stops around the park and then getting out to explore the wildlife and historic sites.

Before you head out to any parks for an off-road adventure, come to Kendall Jeep to get your Jeep serviced and inspected to make sure it’s going ready for an adventure!

Embrace Summer in a Jeep Wrangler

All-new 2018 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon

Summer is the best time of the year, isn’t it? The days are longer, kids and teachers are out of school, people go on trips, the water in the ocean warms up, and there’s plenty of sunshine. If you are one of the people that loves summer and everything that comes with it, a Jeep Wrangler would be an ideal vehicle for you, especially if you live in South Florida where it is summer year-round.

Easy-to-Clean Interior

The Jeep Wrangler was designed to be a rugged vehicle that can handle off-road adventures, so Jeep designed most Wrangler tims with an easy-to-clean interior, which means there’s no reason to worry about sand or dirt getting tracked into the vehicle.

Feel the Breeze

The Jeep Wrangler is the only vehicle that drivers can ride around without a roof or doors on the vehicle, and that’s a really nice way to ride on a sunny day. This year the Wrangler was redesigned and the new Wrangler JL is available with a power retractable roof, so users can push a button to open or close the roof at speeds of up to 60 mph.

Rain Proof

Although the vehicle’s doors and roof can be removed, that doesn’t mean the Wrangler won’t protect you from rain. The Wrangler is actually a great vehicle in the rain and wet conditions because it has big tires, great traction and it comes standard with four-wheel-drive. Additionally, the redesigned Wrangler received upgraded lights that are brighter and more advanced, so visibility at night and during rain storms is better than ever. Trust us, one of the best vehicles for the rain is a Jeep Wrangler.

Headed to a Beach You Can Drive On?

The Jeep Wrangler’s tires, removable doors and roof, and 4×4 capability make the Wrangler the ideal vehicle to drive to a beach that still allows people to drive on the sand. In fact, the Wrangler and Jeep brand is so compatible and known for being great for beaches it is one of the most popular vehicles among surfers and beach rescue organizations (remember ‘Baywatch’, anyone?).  Additionally, each year thousands of Jeepers get together to drive on Daytona Beach.

Ready for Adventures

Finally, summer is all about having fun and going on adventures while the weather is warm and the days are long, and that’s exactly what Jeeps, especially Jeep Wranglers, are known for. No matter where you want to go, a Jeep Wrangler can get you through water, up steep inclines, through mud and sand, and any other obstacles that you may come across during your journey. Whether heading out to see a place you have never gone before, or returning to your favorite secluded spot to go on a camping trip, the Jeep Wrangler is built for adventure.

Convinced that the Jeep Wrangler is the ideal vehicle for you? Come by Kendall Jeep to test drive all of our available Jeep Wrangler models. We currently have the Jeep Wrangler JK and Jeep Wrangler JL available!

If You Are a Member of the Jeep Family, Here Are a Couple Things To Know

Jeep-Family-Jeep-traditions-Kendall-Jeep-Miami

The Jeep community is a tight-knit group of people. People take pride in owning a Jeep, not only because it is a great vehicle, but because it is a multipurpose vehicle and it has a significant history behind it. Whether you are new, old or plan to join the Jeep community in the near future, here are some things you should know.

Brief Background

Jeep has been around for more than 75 years. The brand originated back in 1941 with the first version of the Jeep Wrangler. The vehicle was created for World War II, so many people admire the brand and the Wrangler for its beginnings as a durable and innovative vehicle created for the military. After WWII a version of the Wrangler was created for civilians, and since then, the brand has grown. There are currently five different Jeep models, the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Compass and Renegade.

Community

Although the Jeep community is the biggest in the U.S., there is a Jeep community around the world. From events to clubs to organized Jeep Jamborees, there are a number of ways Jeepers get together. Jeep clubs located all around the nation, and there are several here in South Florida. Each club has its own goals and unique characteristics, but all clubs exist to bring fellow Jeepers together to talk about their own Jeep experiences and modifications.

Modifications

Speaking of modifications, one of the reasons people love Jeeps is because they are extremely versatile and customizable. Not only are Jeep vehicles, especially the Jeep Wrangler, available with a lot of different options from the factory, but there are a variety of parts available to people to purchase to make their Jeep their own, and people take advantage of that. Now that doesn’t mean that you need to do that as a Jeep owner, but all owners should be aware of how much effort people put in to their Jeeps.

Jeep Wave

There is a Jeep wave, and all Jeep owners should be aware of it. It’s customary for Jeepers to exchange waves every time they pass each other on the road.

Are you a part of the Jeep community? Do you want to be a part of the Jeep community? Come check out the selection of new Jeep models and used Jeep models at Kendall Jeep.

The South Florida Jeep Club is a great place to find many Jeep events that are going on in your area. The club was originally founded in 1982 under the name “Plantation Jeep Club.” The founders figured that camping and four wheeling in a group is not only more fun than going alone, but it is much safer. After gaining some traction (no pun intended) and notoriety, the club was renamed to the “South Florida Jeep Club” in 2006.

The club meets on the second Tuesday of every month, where they organize and participate in activities including four-wheeling across the United States, camping, canoeing, parades, picnics, charity events, sporting events, vacation cruises, and more. If you take great pride in owning your Jeep and love to share your enthusiasm, the South Florida Jeep Club is a great fit for you!

Go Topless Day

Alright South Florida Jeepers, it’s time to take those tops off again! This Saturday, May 19, marks Jeep’s 11th annual Go Topless Day. This is a nationwide event, which signifies the return of warm weather, and allows us warm-blooded Jeepers to indulge in all of the adventure that comes with owning a Jeep! Whether your own a hard top, soft top, bikini top, or no top, Go Topless Day is the time for you to shed it all and celebrate with the Jeep family!

Jeep Beach Jam

What happens when you combine five days of Jeep enthusiasts, family fun, and Jeep activities? You get Jeep Beach Jam. In just two years, Jeep Beach Jam has posted record Jeep attendance numbers, with the first year brining in 900 Jeeps and the second year bringing in over 1,200! This year, from May 15 to May 20, Jeep Beach Jam expects over 2,000 Jeeps and will give fellow Jeepers the opportunity to explore the beauty of Panama City Beach and traverse the amazing intracoastal off-road scenic trail rides. In addition, they offer a Poker Run, a multi-day scavenger hunt, beach bonfires, drive-in movie night, sandcastle demonstrations and so much more. This Saturday, they are trying to set a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of topless Jeeps for Go Topless Day! So if you or your friends have a Jeep, get down there and make history!

Remember to take of your Jeep after you’ve had your fun. Regular maintenance and washes are vital to not only retaining the value of your vehicle, but for extending the lifetime of your Jeep. Come visit us after your off-road excursions to make sure your car is in tip-top shape for your next adventure. Wrangler JL’s New Mild Hybrid Engine Fuel Economy Released

Jeep-Wrangler-JL-new-improved-fuel-economy-Kendall-JeepJeep revealed the incredible redesign of the Jeep Wrangler in November 2017, and we’ve been waiting more details ever since. Just recently, Jeep finally announced the fuel economy of their completely new engine, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that features eTorque technology.

The fuel economy of the new 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine is 23 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway and a combined city/highway fuel economy of 24 mpg, which is excellent for such a capable off-road SUV.

The new engine is a significant new change for the Jeep brand because it is the first time that the brand has adopted mild-hybrid technology for one of its engines. Mild hybrid technology means the powertrain system is composed of an engine as well as a battery, and the battery can handle some engine functions, which improves the engine’s fuel economy.

In addition to fuel savings, the mild hybrid system is also beneficial because it increases the vehicle’s torque as well. The 2.0L engine provides 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, which is a great amount of torque for rock crawling and towing. Towing numbers for the Jeep Wrangler JL haven’t been released yet.

In addition to the new engine option, buyers of the Jeep Wrangler JL also have the option of a 3.6-liter V6 engine and in 2019, there will be the option of a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine. The fuel economy of the 3.6-liter V6 engine is 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, and the fuel economy of the EcoDiesel engine still hasn’t been released.

There’s no question that the Jeep Wrangler is the go-to Jeep for people that love to go off-road and explore. The Wrangler comes standard with four-wheel-drive and it has a number of features that make it an excellent off-roading vehicle. The Wrangler JL has a great ground clearance, excellent off-road angles and a number of various hood, window and door configurations that make it unlike any other vehicle on the road today.

If you are on the market for a Jeep Wrangler, the Jeep Wrangler JK and Jeep Wrangler JL are both available at Kendall Jeep. We are one of South Florida’s largest Jeep dealers and we have a huge selection of Jeep inventory, including the newest models. Kendall Jeep also has an excellent parts department and a reliable service department, so we’re able to help you with any Jeep needs!

Evolution of SRT and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Models

Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-Trackhawk-debut-SRT-Kendall-Jeep

2018 is the first model year of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, which is the most powerful Jeep Grand Cherokee ever made. Made in conjunction with SRT, a high performance engineering group within FCA, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is equipped with a 707-horsepower engine and has record-breaking track times, but this isn’t the first time Jeep has created a monster with SRT.

About SRT

SRT is an acronym for “street and racing technology” and their beginnings goes all the way back into the ‘90s. SRT is actually the team of engineers behind the legendary Dodge Viper, but the team was originally called Team Viper. Since the development of the Viper, SRT has been responsible for the development of a lot of extreme performance vehicles including the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, Challenger SRT Hellcat and Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.

Jeep + SRT

The first Jeep model that SRT helped create was the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and it remained the most powerful Grand Cherokee model until the introduction of the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk in 2018. The Grand Cherokee SRT was originally named the Grand Cherokee SRT8 and it has been produced for six model years (2012-2018 (current)).

The Grand Cherokee SRT is equipped with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine and all-wheel-drive. The Grand Cherokee SRT produces 475 horsepower, 470 lb-ft of torque and all of that power makes the Grand Cherokee SRT fast as well as strong. The Grand Cherokee SRT accelerates from 0-60 mph in 14.3 seconds, has a top speed of 160 mph and it completes a quarter-mile in 12.8 seconds. Thanks to all of the torque produced by the engine and transmission, the SUV has excellent towing capabilities and its max towing capacity is 7,200 pounds.

In addition to the engine, SRT is also responsible for adding a number of other performance components found on the Grand Cherokee SRT. These parts include dynamic drive modes, standard launch control, high-performance brakes, a specialized hood and a rear spoiler.

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

Jeep and SRT decided to take the Grand Cherokee’s performance capabilities up a notch with the addition of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has is equipped with an engine that is similar to and as powerful as the engine found in the Dodge SRT Hellcat models. This engine is the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine, which produces 707-horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. As a result of the increased power, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is significantly faster. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds (.8 seconds faster than the Grand Cherokee SRT), completes a quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds (1.2 seconds faster than the Grand Cherokee SRT), and it has a top-speed of 180 mph, which is 20 mph faster than the Grand Cherokee SRT.

Like the Grand Cherokee SRT, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk also has parts to improve the vehicle’s performance. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is equipped with the largest Brembo brakes that have ever been used on a Jeep model. The Trackhawk also has a unique front-end design and a quad-tip exhaust.

Kendall Jeep is one of the largest Jeep dealers in South Florida, so we have a large collection of Jeep models, including performance Jeep models like the Grand Cherokee SRT and Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Or, if you are more interested in a smaller high performance vehicle, we also have a selection of Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger SRT models.

Jeep and WSL Create Virtual Reality Surf Experience

Jeep-WSL-Kendall-Dodge

Have you ever wanted to know what it looks like to ride massive waves like a pro surfer? The Jeep brand and the World Surf League (WSL) recently announced the release of the all-new virtual reality experience, Jeep Sessions: A Surfing Journey in 360°.

The new program gives users the chance to see exactly what pro surfers experience out on the water! It gives people an insight into how surfers manage to climb over waves, compete amongst other pros and it also shows the vehicles they use to get to different surf spots, which can come with some challengers.

“Our project goal was to push the boundaries of VR technology to show what a surf trip feels like from the first-person perspective,” said director Taylor Steele. And the entire experience is captured beautifully by the Jeep brand and their direct collaboration with the World Surf League.

Fans of the Jeep brand and WSL can view the whole experience online in the video series that has recently premiered. Visit the Jeep.com/en/WSL to find out more information and see these incredible VR captures and additional footage!

The journey of WSL Championship Tour athletes and Jeep brand ambassadors, Jordy Smith and Malia Manuel, is open to anyone who wants to follow their journey surfing around the world. From France to Hawaii, their journey on the WSL Championship Tour is fully captured in amazing high-definition showcasing amazing shots of beaches, surfers and their exhilarating surfing runs over very high and intense waves.

Closer Look Into Pro Surfer Lifestyles with Jeep Brand Ambassadors

When in Oahu, Hawaii, every Jeep brand WSL ambassador has their own Jeep vehicle. From the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler to the new 2018 Jeep Renegade, they ride over beach sands and through the Hawaiian forests. These Jeep vehicles are able to handle the off-road routes through all of the beautiful Hawaiian areas showcased in these videos.

These videos highlight the lifestyle of these pro surfers with footage covering every angle. From the 360 degree shots in the ocean to how their Jeep vehicles handle driving over sands safely. Showcasing their equipment allows viewers to see how useful and wonderful these Jeep vehicles can be for them, though they might not be able to handle the waves quite like these pro surfers; the Jeep vehicles can perform these tasks the same way they see in the videos.

“This was a special project to be a part of, and I am excited for the world to experience the journey with us,” said Smith. “It is incredible to see all the innovation that goes in behind-the-scenes to bring to life such a unique perspective of our surfing experience. When you’re surfing, many people just see the endgame, but it’s the whole adventure to find great waves with a friend. When you do, it’s the best feeling in the world,” added Smith.

The group behind all of the magic is Rapid VR. Rapid VR has captured tons of footage of WSL athletes taking the beaches by storm. With custom built rigs attached to the surf boards, every trip was captured in unique 360 degree views, collecting all the adventure.

“Our project goal was to push the boundaries of VR technology to show what a surf trip feels like from the first-person perspective,” said Steele, Rapid VR co-director. “I’m excited to share this. It’s pretty incredible knowing my mom can now experience riding a 20-foot wave.”  As the virtual reality allows the eyes of the user to control what they see and experience.

Wrangler JL Keeps Original Style, Improves Performance + Custom Options

All-new 2018 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon

The Jeep Wrangler has always been known (and loved) for three things, it’s iconic style, it’s unique off-road capabilities and features, and all of its customization features, so Jeep made each of those things an important part of the design of the next generation Jeep Wrangler JL.

“Jeep has always represented the ultimate in capability and open-air freedom, and our all-new 2018 Wrangler protects that important legacy and takes it into the future,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA Global.  “The all-new Wrangler is instantly recognizable as a Jeep, staying true to the original, yet it is better in every way – delivering even more rugged capability, more ride comfort, more fuel efficiency courtesy of several advanced powertrain options, more interior comfort, more safety and more technology.”

Exterior Design

Even though Jeep wanted to make some serious changes to the next-generation Wrangler, they knew one thing, they couldn’t mess with was the classic Wrangler design. Round headlights, a full-size spare tire on the swing gate, and a seven-slot grille are non-negotiable features. However, Jeep was able to make other changes that not only kept the vehicle’s original style, but significantly improved its off-road and overall performance.

The new Jeep Wrangler JL has a lot of exterior elements like the vehicle’s doors, hinges, the hood, fenders, windshield frame and swing gate made from lightweight, high-strength aluminum steel, which helps to reduce the vehicle’s weight and improve fuel economy.

The Wrangler JL also has an improved windshield and windshield rake, which improves the vehicle’s aerodynamics while also making it easier for users to fold-down the windshield and open up the Wrangler. All Wrangler JL models have body-colored sport bars, which are welded to the body and feature integrated grab handles — another example of functional design. Finally, the Wrangler JL Sahara and Rubicon are available with LED headlamps and fog lamps, which offer improved visibility.

Off-Road Capabilities

The Wrangler JL is more efficient than ever, and it is also a more off-road capable. The suspension on the new Jeep Wrangler JL has been tweaked a bit and its slight changes improve the vehicle’s on-road handling and ride comfort, but don’t impact the vehicle’s off-road capabilities.

Additionally, Jeep made some improvements to the transfer case on the Wrangler JL Sahara. The new transfer case is more user-friendly because it has a Selec-Trac full-time two-speed transfer case, which allows drivers “to set it and forget it,” or in other words, the transfer case can operate on its own.

Custom Options

Jeepers love to customize their Wranglers, and Jeep made that a lot easier with the new Wrangler JL. The new Wrangler JL is available with four top options, instead of the two options that have been standard for years. The new tops include the new easy-to-use Sky One-Touch powertop that opens up with the push of a button, two hard tops and a premium soft top. Thanks to the new top options, there are now dozens of different door, top and windshield combinations, so Jeepers will easily be able to make their new Wrangler look and function just how they want.

Also, shortly after the debut of the all-new Wrangler JL, Jeep announced that Mopar is now offering more than 200 performance parts and accessories for the Jeep Wrangler. Available new parts include Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) LED off-road lights, new lifts kits, rock rail options, and a ton of new wheel options, as well as many more items.

Ready to test out the new Jeep Wrangler JL for yourself? The new Jeep Wrangler JL is available at Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Ram, come by and test drive one of the new models today!

Update: Future Jeep Models Coming Soon

2019-Jeep-Wrangler-pickup-truck-coming-Kendall-Jeep

As one of the most beloved vehicle brands, Jeep vehicles hold a special place in our hearts as well. Today, we’re looking ahead to some of the newest crop of Jeep vehicles that have been teased and rolled out with a prototype, but not yet released to the public. Engineered with the same passion and inspiring the same sense of adventure all Jeep vehicle do, these vehicles have us waiting on the edge of our seats for a test drive.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Pickup

Many eyes have noticed like we have, the upcoming 2019 Jeep Wrangler pickup for obvious reasons. For those that love the Jeep brand and pickup trucks, the return of the Jeep Wrangler pickup truck is the best of both worlds. If you’re looking for a new truck, you might want to hold out for this vehicle slated to come out at some point in 2018.

From the shots we’ve seen of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler pickup truck, it appears that it will sport a fold-down windshield. A four door option that looks like the Wrangler JL with a bed, complete with LED headlights and sports the new fender-mounted turn signals. Spy photos revealed all these details and rumors suggest the 2019 Jeep Wrangler pickup is more than five inches narrower than the Ram 1500.

While not much has been spoken to the public about the Jeep Wrangler pickup truck, there’s no denying fans are excited.

2019 Jeep Wagoneer & 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

The 2019 Jeep Wagoneer has created a buzz as Jeep will re-introduce the Wagoneer nameplate for the first time since 1991. There’s a market for a new small SUV option and a new large SUV option, so two new Wagoneer models could help Jeep expand past the Cherokee (small SUV) and Grand Cherokee (full-size SUV).

The previous Jeep Wagoneer was known for carrying a powerful V8 engine and having one of the longest production runs of any Jeep vehicle (nearly 30 years) as today late model Jeep Grand Wagoneers have become highly collectable and sell at more than the original value of the car. The new Jeep Grand Wagoneer might end up having third-row seating and be a complete 7-passenger SUV. This would be a first for Jeep, as they have never had more than 5-passenger vehicle on the market before.

Further rumors have expected the 2019 Jeep Wagoneer and 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will include the 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine. FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automotive) has said that the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is capable of housing an engine that provides 400 horsepower using a 3-liter twin-turbo V6. The goal is to compete against the Range Rover SVR and be an additional option to the Dodge Durango, a brand owned by FCA.

This has been a six year process at this point, but the determination is that 2018 will finally be the year we see the re-debut of the Jeep Wagoneer vehicle. Whether the rumors or true or not is yet to be determined, but we’re hoping for the best.
