Jeep has some Changes planned for the Cherokee

Kendall 2018 Jeep Cherokee

Any Jeep enthusiasts out there with a Jeep® Cherokee? What do you think of it? Some would say it’s nothing fancy whereas others would say it’s not very attractive in reference to other Jeep models. Not only would those people be wrong, seeing as how the Cherokee has the most popular 4×4 system shared across several models in the Jeep lineup, but high sales for the Cherokee make all claims of it being ugly simply a myth. Still, for those who think the Cherokee could benefit from changes with vehicles like the Jeep Wrangler entering a new generation, we have some good news for you. The Jeep Cherokee is getting a bit of a facelift.

According to CarBuzz.com, Jeep designers have decided to give the front-end of the Jeep Cherokee a makeover. Many liken the look of the Jeep Cherokee’s front fascia to a hammerhead shark. Honestly, we don’t see it, but alas, the front-end of this off-road wheeler will show a resemblance to its big brother, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, or its cousin, the Jeep Compass, with a redesign set for the 2019 model year. The 2019 models may even be available in mid-2018 if all goes well.

2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Takes the Stage at LA Auto Show

Kendall LA Auto Show 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

At this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2018 Jeep® Wrangler JL finally debuted. Although there’s been plenty of spy shots and even a leaked 2018 Jeep Wrangler manual, we didn’t really know what the next-generation Wrangler JL would be like, until now.

Powertrains

3.6-liter V6

This year, Jeep has upped the ante with new engine options and a reduction in the vehicle’s weight, that improves handling, fuel economy, and power. Returning to the Wrangler is the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine, which is capable of generating 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Tweaked a bit with an engine start-stop (ESS) system, the engine turns itself off when idling and that can conserve fuel economy. The 3.6L engine can be paired to a six-speed manual transmission or the optional new eight-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with a manual transmission and V6 engine, the fuel economy of the Wrangler JL stands at 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. When equipped with an automatic transmission and V6 engine, the Wrangler JL averages 18/23 mpg city/highway.

Increase Your Jeep’s Ride Height with a Lift Kit

jeep wrangler lift kit kendall jeep

The Jeep Wrangler is an SUV for all purposes including family trips, adventure, work and more and one thing Jeep owners have one thing in common, they like to modify! One of the most common mods for a Wrangler is a lift kit, so keep reading if you want to learn more about lift kits.

What is a Lift Kit?

A Wrangler lift kit is a great edition to the SUV for those looking to increase ride height. There are several different types of lift kits, the most popular being a suspension lift. Other lift types include body lifts and coil spacers. Suspension lifts are designed specifically to increase ground clearance by adding suspension height. Lifts vary from a couple inches to a foot or higher. The body lift is an inexpensive way to lift a Jeep by adding spacers, however, spacers can only add up to an extra 3-inches of ride height.

Why a Lift Kit?

There are plenty of reasons to get a Wrangler lift kit!

Bigger Tires

The higher the lift, the bigger the wheels and tires can be under the Jeep! Most people like to add the lift and tires all at once. Larger tires have many benefits of their own explained below.

Ground Clearance

Ground clearance, also referred to as ride height, is added with both a lift and larger tires. The higher the ground clearance, the more capable off-road. This is particularly helpful for those who rock crawl, which is something Jeeps, especially the Wrangler are known for.

Style

Jeep’s already have a sporty and aggressive style, but adding a lift and bigger tires give a Jeep a more personal and unique look.

Weather

Again, with higher ground clearance comes better capability. Generally lifts are for style or off-road purposes, but it doesn’t hurt to have higher water fording for flooding or better capability during snow (for those up north).

jeep wrangler jl kendall jeep

Kendall Jeep likes to keep up on all the leaked and spied Jeep information and there have recently been two important leaks about future Jeep models, and if you are a Jeep lover, we think you will want to know about them.

2018 Jeep Wrangler JL

The Jeep Wrangler owner’s manual that was leaked via JL Wrangler Forums answered a lot of the questions and speculation regarding the next generation design. The 2018 Wrangler is expected to debut at the L.A. Auto Show. Here’s what we learned from the manual:

  • The Wrangler JL will be available with two engine options, a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The manual shows a “motor generator unit,” and according to Motor Trend, that unit indicates the Wrangler JL will have an available mild hybrid system.
  • Some safety features like a blind spot monitoring system and rear cross path detection have been added to the new model.
  • The new Jeep will have the latest UConnect system with a 7- or 8.4-inch touchscreen. The new system comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well.
  • Like the Wrangler JK, the new Wrangler JL will be available with two- and four-door models available, but there are some changes to the tops. With the new Wrangler JL, the only way to get a soft top is to order dual tops.

2018 Jeep Compact SUV Models and Highlights

Kendall-Jeep-2018-Compact-SUV-lineup

Jeep released almost all of the details on their 2018 compact SUV lineup and things are looking pretty good. The Jeep Renegade, Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Compass all look pretty promising.

2018 Jeep Renegade

The 2018 Renegade is one of the Jeep brand’s most popular compact SUV options. For the 2018 model year, the Renegade is still available with the same two fuel efficient engine options that were available in the 2017 model year, the 1.4L MultiAir engine and the 2.4L Tigershark engine. All Renegade models received upgraded infotainment and entertainment options. The 2018 Renegade Latitude, Renegade Limited and Renegade Trailhawk come standard with the upgraded UConnect 4 system (includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and a 7-inch touchscreen, and the Renegade Sport now comes standard with a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth and Uconnect 5.0. All models now have increased storage capacity, a ParkView backup camera, and a new redesigned interior.

2018 Jeep Compass

Since the Jeep Compass was completely redesigned for the 2017 model year, the 2018 model year Jeep Compass largely remains the same. The 2018 Compass is available in four trims, and they include the Compass Sport, Compass Latitude, Compass Limited and Compass Trailhawk, and this year the Compass Limited is available with a 4×2 drivetrain as well as the 4×4 drivetrain which was standard in 2017. Highlights for the 2018 Compass include two engine options, three Uconnect systems and more than 70 available advanced safety features.

2018 Jeep Cherokee

The Cherokee was introduced to the Jeep lineup in 1974, and more than 36 years later, the Cherokee is still a very significant model on the Jeep lineup. For the 2018 model year, Jeep added the Cherokee Latitude Plus to the lineup and they upgraded the standard features on various Cherokee trims.

The trim that received the most upgrades is the base trim, the Cherokee Latitude. For the 2018 model year, the Cherokee Latitude comes standard with 17-inch aluminum wheels, HID headlights, roof rails, daylight running models, fog lamps and a rear backup camera. Additionally, the Latitude is also available with a new Uconnect skill that allows users to sync up Amazon Alexa with their vehicle’s Uconnect system.

Other new upgrades include the addition of cross-path detection, rear backup warning, and blind-spot monitoring, as standard features on the Cherokee Trailhawk and Cherokee Limited.

When you think about the Jeep Renegade and capability, you probably think about the Renegade Trailhawk.
