The all-new 2017 Jeep Compass is here and it is better than ever before. Jeep rectified the Compass for the 2017 model year with an all-new design and added a new Compass model that is specifically made for off-roading.
The new 2017 Compass looks like a cross between a Renegade and a Cherokee and it has less of a boxy design than it had in the past. The front headlights are modern and of course, it has Jeep’s classic seven-slot front grille.
In the North American market, the Compass will be powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower and has a highway fuel economy of 30 mpg. The Compass will have four trim options — Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. The new Jeep will come standard with LED tail lights, UConnect 5.0, and buyers will have the option of three transmissions and a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain.
Apart from those standard Compass features there are other options that come standard on upper level trims like the Trailhawk. Some of the features include leather seating, 17-inch black wheels, off-road tires and a 4WD drivetrain system.
Now, let’s get into the exciting part, Trailhawk details. A Compass Trailhawk will join Jeep’s available selection of the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, Renegade Trailhawk and Cherokee Trailhawk. All Trailhawk trims have been trail rated, so they are ready to handle any kind of terrain. Features like the 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, a one-inch lift, and skid plates are some of the exterior features that make the Trailhawk unique and capable.
The off-road system for the Compass Trailhawk is Jeep’s Active Drive Low four-wheel drive system. This system is a full-time 4X4 system that allows the driver to select a driving mode from the five options, rock, snow, mud, sand, and auto. Depending on the selected mode the system adds the appropriate amount of traction to certain wheels. Additionally, there is a button in which the driver can engage hill descent control. Hitting this button allows the vehicle to brake on it’s own as needed when descending down a steep incline.
