The Dodge Durango has seen a renewed interest from the Dodge brand in 2020. The Dodge three-row SUV was already the fastest in the segment before Dodge decided to add an SRT Hellcat engine inside of the Durango. With the introduction of the SRT Hellcat trim, Dodge announced for one year customers will be able to purchase the fastest three-row SUV in the world with a newly added monstrous powertrain and all the perks that come with the high-end Durango trim. Apparently, the 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque weren’t enough for some as news has come out regarding an even more impressive Durango.

History of the Hennessey Performance Upgrades

The folks over at Hennessey Performance, a Texas-based tuning company, that was responsible for making the 1,000 horsepower Jeep Gladiator Maximus and the 1,200 horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, are back at it. This time the goal was to crank out as much power as possible for the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. The prize this time is quite remarkable as this is the first time any three-row SUV has been built to surpass the three-digit horsepower mark. While Hennessey Performance has crafted some stunning vehicles to go way over the production horsepower allotment, they have never made a Durango stand out like this.

Pushing the Limits of Dodge Engineering

Famous for its work across the Dodge vehicle lineup, including the Dodge Viper, Charger, and Challenger, this is the first Durango they have made to join the +1,000 horsepower club. They had experience working on an SUV with the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, but this is a bit different. They added a new HPE1000 supercharger upgrade kit for the Durango SRT and MoparInsiders reports that the Durango actually hits 1,012 horsepower. The strength has been upgraded to 969 ft-lb of torque and it will have the same measurements as the aforementioned Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The speed of the Durango will definitely be increased. The modified Trackhawk went from 0-60 mph at warp speed in only 2.6 seconds! We expect similar numbers for the Durango SRT Hellcat.

Stock Durango SRT Hellcat Is Still A Beast

Keep in mind, even the stock version of the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat remains remarkably impressive with a 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 11.5 seconds. That’s not just fast for a three-row SUV, but for any production vehicle on the market today. The folks at Hennessey Performance just know how to push the ante that much further.
