2019 Jeep Compass
The 2019 Jeep Compass offers few updates as it remains unchanged and shuffles available features across trims instead. The Jeep Compass is an entry-level vehicle into the Jeep lineup that continues the brand’s tradition of performance, capability, and comfort with plenty of styles and an up-to-date infotainment system.
Avail. Engine Type
For the 2019 model year the Jeep Compass comes in five different trims when equipped with a 4×4 drivetrain – Sport, Latitude, Altitude, Trailhawk, and Limited. The 4×2 drivetrain offers four different trims – Sport, Latitude, Altitude, and Limited. All trims, no matter the drivetrain, have a 2.4-liter Tigershark I4 MultiAir engine under the hood, delivering 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The 2019 Compass Sport 4×2, 4×4, and the Compass Latitude 4×4 trims all feature a standard six-speed manual transmission, while the remainder of the lineup features an AutoStick Automatic transmission. The AutoStick Automatic transmission is a driver-interactive transmission with a transaxle shifter that allows for clutchless manual shifting. Fuel efficiency is of the essence and all Compass trims except the Sport trim are enhanced with Engine Stop Start (ESS), a feature that turns off the engine while idling to conserve fuel. The best fuel economy is when the Tigershark engine is paired with the 6-speed manual transmission, averaging 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, while the average fuel economy with the AutoStick transmission is up to 22 mpg in the city and up to 31 mpg on the highway.
All Jeep Compass trims with a 4×4 drivetrain are equipped with the brand’s Selec-Terrain system. Selec-Terrain offers five different customizable settings – Auto, Snow, Sport, Sand/Mud, Rock, with each specific setting automatically optimizing the vehicle’s system for the chosen terrain. There’s a rotary knob that makes switching between settings easy, helping drivers combine throttle control, transmission shifting, traction control, and Electronic Stability Control for optimal driving stability. The Selec-Terrain system can be engaged either while the CUV is parked or on the go, making the shift to new driving conditions seamless. Auto Mode on the Selec-Terrain system is an overall 4×4 performance mode that is made for any kind of road or weather conditions.
Standard features of the 2019 Jeep Compass include: manual folding mirrors, a push-push fuel filler door, lower bodyside cladding for extra protection, rear window wiper and defroster, body-color accent fascias, a Compass badge, and incandescent tail lamps.
