Good news for Ram fans and those looking to buy the latest all-new 2019 Ram 1500. The latest Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) ratings have been released for the newest Ram 1500 pickup. There has been a large jump in improvement for the Ram 1500’s overall safety ratings. A graph below highlights the improvements from 2018 to 2019 model year, and there’s a row of green marks representing “Good” ratings nearly across the board.

2019 2018 Ram 1500 Ratings Kendall Dodge

As detailed above, the highlights show that the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 has improved to good ratings in both driver small overlap front crashes and greater roof strength. Going from “Marginal” to “Good” in both categories as well as receiving good ratings in passenger small overlap front and front crash prevention, two previous areas that did not have any data before this year’s testing, this is a large update to safety. The version of the 2019 Ram 1500 that was tested was the extended quad cab trim of the Ram pickup. The previous Ram 1500 did not have driver-assistance or crash prevention systems like the Adaptive Cruise Control and LaneSense Lane Departure Plus features that have raised the bar for safety in the latest Ram 1500.

The Safety of the Latest Ram 1500

The fifth-generation Ram 1500 pickup improved their rating with the roof rating, something very difficult to do, thanks to adding a new 98 percent high-strength steel frame. Multiple components are made from aluminum throughout the frame. The area around the windshield can handle a heavier crushing load as well as being able to withstand 4.24 times the truck’s curb weight. The IIHS ratings are improved compared to the previous year, and when asked the choice of which pickup to own, there’s hardly any pickup truck like the all-new 2019 Ram 1500.

From advanced multistage front airbags, supplemental front-mounted and side-curtain airbags to traction and stability control systems and a Sentry Key theft deterrent system, the 2019 Ram 1500 has many safety features Other available and advanced safety features include blind-spot monitoring, advanced brake assist, forward-collision warning, ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, ParkSense park assist with reverse stop, Rear Cross Path detection, and 9-1-1 Call Assist. Not even half of these have been offered before on the Ram 1500 before, prior to the 2019 model.

The redesigned Ram 1500 is available with a large 12-inch touchscreen, the most up-to-date Uconnect 4 system and a 350-degree camera that helps make driving safely easier than ever. The 2019 Ram 1500 was named “Best of Show” by Cars.com at the North American International Auto Show in 2018 and only improves upon the design and comfort every Ram driver has come to expect of the Ram brand. For those looking to drive Ram trucks, there is no debating those owners are making the right choice.
