Will Jeep have a new staple that stands out among the rest of its competitors? The Jeep Gladiator did that for mid-size pickups upon its debut, but now Jeep another model ready to inspire drivers. The Wrangler 4xe is set to be available before long and it will have more 4xe company. The Renegade and Compass should both gain a plug-in hybrid option as well. Both of those Jeep vehicles already debuted four months ago in June 2020. The Jeep brand is all about creating vehicles that serve as the greatest option for adventure, but soon enough they will be known for its remarkably green capabilities.
Jeep Offers Something Never Offered Before
Jeep will offer something that has never been built before. The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be the first plug-in hybrid to offer customers 2WD, 4WS, and 4WD Low modes with lockers front and rear that are entirely capable of taking advantage of all modes with electric propulsion from the newly added hybrid system. The first plug-in hybrid Jeep vehicle will be everything a Jeep vehicle is built to be.
“Driving all-electric—open-air, doors-off, top off—and going through the Moab or the Andes off road facilities, purely in silence, is a way to make it an even greater open air, no excuse experience; and that’s what my mission is,” said Micky Bly, FCA Head of Global Propulsion
Breaking Down the Hybrid Setup
The new “P2” hybrid system is used to help make everything possible. The electric motor has a main traction model with a 134 horsepower and 181 ft-lb of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which maintains the traditional mechanical four-wheel-drive components. The belt-connected “P1” motor system adds 44 horsepower and 39 lb-ft of torque. With this system, known as the eTorque system, the Wrangler 4xe will have greater power. This setup is the same one used in the Ram 1500. The mild-hybrid system helps create the ability to save drivers money and allow for a greener planet; both big wins for everyone. However, the Jeep Wrangler has not lost out on any of its power with this engine setup.
Making An Engine Jeep Is Proud To Showcase
The response of the engine is still powerful and offers readily available torque, firm control, and gives drivers what they need and expect out of a Jeep vehicle. The development of these engines required driving over 1.5 million miles across various terrains around the world. The goal was to go over all kinds of different surfaces and keep the 4WD system as close to the original as possible. The kind of vehicle that customers will gain with the Wrangler 4xe will match up closely with the gasoline version.
“We’ve tried our best to make it feel alike. In fact, when we do these off-road courses, we actually have the same evaluator…he’s the reference point and actually scores these vehicles for us. And he’s ensuring that this thing feels equal—no head bobbing, no swaying, no lean, very controlled, not herky-jerky, coming down-grade,” said Bly.
