Dodge Grand Caravan To End Production Run After 2020 Edition

The end of the road has come for the Dodge Grand Caravan. Set to finish the production’s run after the 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan comes out later in 2019, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has future plans for more minivan vehicles. FCA has dominated the minivan segment with their Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid minivans, but they have some more surprises with the outgoing Grand Caravan. The Voyager nameplate is returning for the final 2020 Grand Caravan. What else does FCA have planned for customers to drive in the minivan segment? We have details about the upcoming changes and expectations.
Introducing the Final Grand Caravan
For those who have grown accustomed to the Dodge Grand Caravan, we know why. The Dodge Grand Caravan earned the respect of customers since its debut in 1984. FCA has revealed the Voyager will be marketed as the budget-friendly version for business and family customers to go for. The Dodge Grand Caravan was marketed as the Chrysler Voyager in Europe, so this is not the first time this FCA minivan will be known as the Voyager. The 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan will list the Voyager as two distinctive lower-end trims, the L and LX trims. Overall, the 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan is expected to remain a spacious and modern ride including Bluetooth capabilities, second-row bench seats that allow seating for up to seven and the trusted 287 horsepower 3.6-Liter V6 Pentastar.
“For the 2020 model year, they’ll likely run to the fleet and then get the consumers to buy the new Voyager,” Sam Fiorani, vice president of global vehicle forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions said.
Updates to Grand Caravan
FCA has not had a massive update for the Grand Caravan since 2008. That fact doesn’t mean the Dodge Grand Caravan has not been refreshed and enhanced along the way, as the minivan has for the final rendition. The production for the Voyager is set to begin in August 2019 in Windsor along with the higher-end Pacifica models and the rest of the Grand Caravan trims. FCA still receives the bulk of FCA Canada’s minivan sales. The cost of the 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan is expected to be $26,985 MSRP (plus destination fee) and will begin to appear in U.S. dealerships nationwide starting in fall 2019.
