What will the future hold for the Ram 1500? More fuel economy than any other full-sized pickup on the road. The latest 2019 Ram 1500 eTorque, according to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) provides a remarkable 20 city mpg and 25 highway mpg in real-wheel-drive. That makes the 2019 Ram 1500 ahead of the crowd. The 2019 Ram 1500 showed quite the improvement over the previous model year, jumping the city mpg up three more miles per gallon. Now, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 offers the eTorque system, available on the V6 and HEMI V8 engine powertrains, making it so that this truck can boast a strong rating over its previous from the EPA of 17 city mpg and 23 highway mpg.

The Pickup of the Future

For pickup drivers today, there are a few things more important than owning a truck that doesn’t burn a hole in their wallet. Having better fuel efficiency is essential and expected at this point and Ram looks to stay ahead and on top of the competition.

Ram’s eTorque system is taken the place of the former, standard alternator with a 10-horsepower electric motor that is connected to a 48-volt lithium-ion battery pack in addition to the standard lead acid battery. The small electric motor helps to make gearshifts run smoothly and more refined. Best of all, the added motor of the eTorque system adds that all important jump in fuel efficiency.

What Else Helped Raise the MPG?

The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 doesn’t suffer from a lack of power or acceleration. Part of the reason the Ram 1500 is as strong and provides the gas mileage it does is thanks to losing 225 pounds from the weight due to a lighter high-strength steel frame and body. This change, along with making more active air dams and redesigned upper grille shutters, improve the aerodynamics at higher speeds. The eTorque system combined with the lighter weight and improved design all lead to making the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 the pickup that provides the most bang-for-buck option for owners. The eTorque system doesn’t suffer from the same jump start lag like start-stop technology in other vehicles.

Ram is still selling the previous edition 2018 Ram 1500, which might be unusual, but the previous model year pickup is around for those who want to drive either.
