While the automotive landscape is evolving when it comes to the future of powertrains in vehicles. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has recently merged with PSA Groupe to be able to expand their EV capabilities. FCA is doing its best to stay current with many of its brands introducing mild-hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and eventually fully electric vehicles. Think owning a hybrid will be a problem with it comes to finding a place to charge an EV? Modern buildings are being built with this technology in mind. Charging stations are readily available for owners to use. Every year charging capabilities become more improved and faster. Home charging stations are also provided and are very proficient. FCA has implemented a gradual shift towards all-out electronic vehicles. Everything started for FCA with the addition of mild-hybrid technology.

Introduction of Mild-Hybrid System

The introduction of the mild-hybrid system in the Ram 1500 was the first, followed by the Eco-Diesel being added to the Ram pick-up as well as the latest Jeep Wrangler. While the savings and owner will gain are noticeable and attractive, in the future even better results are expected. Keep in mind, Jeep alone is expected to roll out a plethora of electric vehicles in just the next five years. The future in the automotive world has already arrived with hybrid technology, but we’re just a few years away from seeing electric vehicles become highly popular and readily available for customers to enjoy. As far as today, the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel offers the best full-size truck that provides high-level efficiency and capability. Jeep will host a ton of new vehicles by 2020, including the next-generation Jeep Renegade, the next-gen Jeep Cherokee, and the return of the Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer. All of these are expected to have an electrification option available including plug-in hybrid technology.

Next Steps For FCA Regarding EV Technology

FCA CEO Mike Manley has suggested that FCA will look to get a jump on EV production by purchasing Tesla batteries and drivetrains. FCA and PSA Groupe are set to merge and their first order of business will be to add the latest technology into their automotive arsenal. The more the public is aware of the change coming for traditional gas-powered vehicles, the easier it will be for brands like Jeep and Ram to gain new customers. For drivers today that want to start their journey towards hybrid technology, we have the new 2020 Ram 1500 ready to go at Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram.
