Get Out This Saturday for Color Me Rad 5k in Miami
When you live in Miami or the communities surrounding it, there is almost always something to do. Getting out of the house and enjoying the weather year-round, is something that we Floridians should take advantage of. The weather may be quite frightful in the rest of the country, but here in Kendall, we are at a balmy eighty degrees. The opportunity to get out of the house and participate in local events, or simply go to the beach for the day, are knocking at your door. If you prefer to get up and go, rather than sit at the beach with a good book, then the upcoming Color Me Rad 5k in Miami might just be the perfect event for you.
This isn’t your typical 5k. The run begins with fires of colorful color bombs, cannons, and mortars that will have you seeing bright colors, and a brighter outlook on life. Participants begin the race in a white t-shirt, and throughout the course are coated with different colored color bombs like pink, blue, green, purple, and yellow. The result? A fun experience running a 5k, and a tie-dye shirt to prove that you did it. The colored cornstarch is non-toxic, and non-rash inducing. This unique 5k will start at the Sunlife Stadium at 2269 NW 199th Street in Miami with waves starting at 9am and 9:10am. The race is February 1, and tickets are on sale for $40. Packet pick-up is at the Sun Life Stadium this Friday from 2pm until 7pm. Entry fee includes race day activities, an event t-shirt, sun glasses, and other fun items.
If running isn’t your cup of tea, you can volunteer at the race. A few spots are still open, and volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Whether running, watching, or volunteering – you aren’t going to want to miss this fun, colorful event.
