Stellantis has revealed some impressive third-quarter numbers for 2022. The counted number so far hit 385,665 vehicle sales in the US during the third quarter of 2022, which is 6% less than a year back. Year-to-date, the group sold nearly 1.2 million cars (down 12%). Stellantis is still working despite having to deal with what they describe as “challenging industry supply constraints”, although all plug-in hybrid sales are rather strong in 2022. The release of the third-quarter sales is an indication of the direct impact the brand has made towards expanding its EV outreach. Looking back at how this year started, we knew the success of the 4xe trim is evident after the first quarter sales of 2022 was revealed.

Buyers Are Helping to Grow the EV Scene

Stellantis revealed in a press release that they have accounted for more than 15,500 PHEVs in third-quarter alone. The reported figures include 13,478 Jeep Wrangler 4xe mid-size SUVs and 2,087 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (PHEV) minivans. While that is currently only about 4.0% of Stellantis’ total volume. In the case of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, the plug-in hybrid amounts to 28% of total Jeep Wrangler sales. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid denoted 12% of all Chrysler Pacifica minivan sales.

The Jeep brand also has the all-electric range offers 56 miles per gallon (MPGe) in the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, owners are saving more and helping drive down the effect we all carry on greenhouse gasses and carbon dioxide emissions, just like the Wrangler 4xe. The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe amounted to 15,565 vehicles and that stands as much as 4% of the total Stellantis volume. Including the Plug-in vehicle sales, we don’t have the figures for the Grand Cherokee 4xe just yet. In regards to the year-to-date, Stellantis accounts for 32,685 vehicles sold for the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has sold 10,346 vehicles so far and all together (with the Grand Cherokee 4xe) that is 3.6% of total Stellantis volume. Jeep is pulling ahead of rival brands with its 4xe trim that is going to be added to more vehicles in the coming months and years ahead.

More About the Grand Cherokee 4xe

In August, the company unlocked the order book for the Jeep Cherokee 4xe so we can safely assume that the electrification of Stellantis will gradually progress. Other brands are also preparing to launch new plug-ins in the future. Rival brands Ford and General Motors seem to be more focused on battery-electric vehicles, Stellantis presumably will evolve into the leading automaker of plug-in hybrids in the United States. The first all-electric models are coming thereafter, later on, this decade.
