Jeep Plans to Grow Global Business by 2018
As a Jeep dealer in Miami, we were ecstatic to hear that Jeep is planning to take the world by storm in the coming years, as Fiat Chrysler has big plans for the classic American brand.
Fiat Chrysler CEO, Sergio Marchionne, is said to be planning a reveal of the company’s plan for Tuesday, May 6 in Auburn Hills, Michigan, home of Chrysler’s world headquarters.
The announcements will cover all of Fiat Chrysler’s brands, but Jeep will be a big part of that, as word has it that the company is setting itself up to double global Jeep sales by 2018.
A big part of this ambition plan is the company’s new budget-friendly Jeep, the Renegade. Based on a Fiat, the Renegade will begin production in a plant in Italy, which can produce 150,000 of the new Jeep each year. For now, it will be the only plant producing the Jeep Renegade.
Later this year, however, production of the Renegade is set to begin in South America at a brand new plant for a pilot program.
China is a big market Jeep plans to conquer in order to reach its global sales goals by 2018. In 2015, the Renegade will make its way to China, being built in partnership with Chinese automotive company Guangzhou Automotive Group.
Currently, China outsells Canada by over 15,000 vehicles each year, but the growth potential could see that increasing in massive amounts in the next few years as the company works on more localization efforts.
