Jeep has begun the process of offering customers a new design for the 2021 model year of the Grand Cherokee. The upcoming model year will be the final one of the fourth-generation Grand Cherokee and some changes have been announced. The current-generation Grand Cherokee has been around since 2011 and has been overdue for upgrades. Jeep has more moves planned with changes coming to the Jeep Compass; the Compass is not going to sell with a manual gearbox option. This move to only offer an automatic transmission is possibly set to include the Jeep Cherokee, too.

More Changes To Jeep Vehicles

The top-tier Jeep Cherokee trim will be discontinued for the 2021 model year according to CarsDirect. The publication has said to have received “a dealer order guide” and confirmation from a Jeep spokesperson,”. The current-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee will remain for one final year as the brand focuses on prepping the new pair of next-gen models.  The latest details include the word that Jeep is ready to launch the large SUV with a special 80th Anniversary Edition model set to debut late next year. This move makes sense as Jeep offered buyers the Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary Edition model four years ago in 2016.

Jeep Plans To Create An 80th Anniversary Edition For the Grand Cherokee.

Jeep will produce the anniversary edition model on top of the Limited trim. Just like the 75th Anniversary Edition offered upgrades like a different front fascia and grille, low gloss bronze accents, exclusive seats, badging, the same is expected for the 80th Anniversary Edition model. Keep in mind, nothing is expected to change performance-wise with this special edition. At least the Grand Cherokee will come out for the 2021 model year, unlike the debut of the Grand Wagoneer and the Wagoneer that had its production set back a year

The Limited Trim Moves To the Top

The 4×4 Limited trim will succeed the Overland as the SUV’s range-topping option and the starting price of $37,025 and offers many of the Overland’s features as optional equipment. Customers who drive the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee will gain a vehicle with the same underpins as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia. Alfa Romeo shares the same parent company, Stellantis. We thought we would see the new Grand Cherokee for the 2021 model year, though Jeep removed the Detroit Auto Show reveal for a future date and has not announced the rescheduled date.
