Jeep Wagoneer S Launches New STLA Platform

Jeep has put together good use of the newest platform set to debut with the Jeep Wagoneer S, among other new options that are quite luxurious and meant for drivers that want to still have the authority to handle more than a typical road. In regards to the platform, Jeep has readied their vehicles to be front-wheel, four-wheel or all-wheel drive. Engineers and designers can offer differences in wheelbase, length, width, height and ground clearance with ease. Suspension modules and powertrain cradles can adjust the vehicles’ drive, handling and comfort, and other differences to promote greater performance. The propulsion system will have the ability receive over-the-air software updates and this is expected to be ensured for the vehicle’s lifespan, according to Jeep and Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep.

Breaking Down the New Platform

The new platform includes a maximum ground clearance of 11.3 inches, and a maximum tire diameter of 32.6 inches. Vehicles can stretch 15 feet, 7.6 inches to 16 feet, 9.8 inches in length and from 6 feet, 2.7 inches to 6 feet, 7.9 inches in width. This means a rather wide and spacious ride for drivers and passengers alike. This will be important for the brand.

Underpinning a number of those models and eight in total through 2026 will be the STLA (pronounced “stella”) Large platform. Designed for BEVs, the platform also can support hybrid and internal combustion engine powertrains. It will support full-size vehicles in the D and E segments, including cars, crossovers and SUVs. Typically, this would take two to three platforms for all of the applications STLA Large will be made for going into the midway point of this decade and beyond.
