Ram has big plans for their largest heavy-duty trucks, as showcased at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. Among the many brands revealing their newest vehicle, Ram debuted the 2019 Ram Chassis Cab with the 3500, 4500, 5500 grades set to be released down the line by Ram. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), the parent company of Ram, has ensured Ram will hold a segment-leading towing capacity of 35,220 pounds and a payload of 12,510 pounds with their latest Ram trucks. The hulking power attributed to these trucks is thanks to an updated Cummins diesel I6 instantly delivering 800 pound-feet of torque; that’s also the most in Class 4 and 5 trucks. Revamped with 97 percent high-strength steel frames, the new Chassis Cab pickups were made 120 pounds lighter than the previous generation models. Ram always finds a way to innovate and make their product even better.

Inside the Latest Ram Trucks

Aside from the 6.7-Liter diesel, these Ram trucks carry the standard powertrain with the 2019 Chassis Cabs including a 6.4-Liter Hemi V8, with cylinder deactivation, that produces 410 hp and 429 pound-feet. It is paired with either a standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission or an optional Aisin six-speed automatic transmission with Power Take-Off (PTO). Between the cylinder deactivation and Power Take-Off owners gave the ability to save gas when they don’t need to use their entire engine and detention provides a burst of energy when needed to haul these powerful trucks ahead.

Ram owners can take pride in knowing the latest technology will be afforded to them. The six-speed uses a new transmission controller for quicker, more accurate shifts under all circumstances. The four-wheel disc brakes also gain an upgrade for a more comfortable pedal feel and shorter stopping distances.

More About the Newest Ram Trucks

The Ram Chassis Cabs will be available in four industry-standard lengths for owners to choose from. Each bed will include a flat mounting surface in the back for upfit and accessory fittings. It also features new powertrain mounts and C-pillar body hydro mounts to help decrease noise and vibration and enhance ride quality.

Active safety systems include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and AEB with trailer brakes — available on all trim levels. The trucks also are provided with parking sensors, a 270-degree camera, trailer reverse guidelines, and a cargo-view camera.

The trim lines available mainly follow the regular Ram pickups. It starts with Tradesman, SLT, Laramie and Limited. There’s also a new instrument panel and FCA’s new 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen with specific functions for the big trucks. Pairing all these features with the choice of four audio systems, including the premium 750-watt Harman Kardon system account for an immerse, refined interior.

Further Upgrades

Ram owners will find a slew of new switches and control accessories while the new HVAC system produces 30 percent more airflow at lower noise levels; more effective and less of an uproar while doing so. Other comforts include wireless charging for smartphones, more cabin storage space, five USB ports, plus a pair of available 115-volt outlets.

When should customers expect to be able to drive one? The 2019 Ram Chassis Cab will be available in the second quarter of 2018. Pricing will be announced later, but the current 3500 Tradesman starts at $35,000 MSRP (plus destination fee) and 5500 grades begin at $40,000 MSRP (plus destination fee).
