Jeep has plans to change up their prized Jeep Grand Cherokee and make it big. Really big. The new Grand Cherokee will now ride on Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Alfa Romeo platform and possibly add a hybrid into the 2021 lineup. This redesign is the first one to come for the Jeep Grand Cherokee since 2010. Expected to come from this new look is a longer front with an extended look. The Jeep Grand Cherokee looks more like a Jeep than ever before, drawing similarities between the 2019 Wrangler and all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator. While the vehicle is still hidden from public view being draped in a protective covering, we can clearly see the wheelbase is longer and the rear will offer more cargo room. What else can we tell?

Jeep Grand Cherokee Is Expected To Change Dramatically

Thinner taillights are thought to be apart of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, but one thing that is certain is a new interior. Some have expected the new Jeep Grand Cherokee to look like the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 interior, a fellow FCA brand. What made the latest Ram pickup stand out is the impressive available 12-inch touchscreen that has won over critics and buyers alike. Many believe the Jeep Wrangler 2.0-Liter inline-four hybrid turbocharged engine will be added as a potential powertrain option. Interesting enough, that turbocharged engine might actually be the starting point. Some believe the Pentastar V6 engine with added eTorque mild-hybrid will be added, giving the Grand Cherokee a powertrain that offers good fuel economy, but even better horsepower. The HEMI V8 will be the top engine option expected for the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. We aren’t sure if FCA will release the plug-in hybrid version, but that is a possibility as well. Same goes for the EcoDiesel V6 engine option.

What Is Not Expected To Change

There will still be some similarities including the inclusive of two rows, as the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is expected to have three rows. The rear suspension will also not be changed, as evident by spy photos that have been posted. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is known for being very secretive and time will tell what else we’ll gain with this Jeep SUV. The current base trim for the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is listed at $33,440 MSRP (plus destination) and the starting price for the upcoming new Grand Cherokee shouldn’t be too far off. For those who can’t wait to get their hands on the latest Jeep vehicles, we know where to go!
