Ram 1500 Classic Remains a Popular Choice

What’s old is new again and this rings especially true for the Ram 1500 Classic. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) decided that Ram could do more with their outgoing 2018 Ram 1500. Last year, Ram made the choice to keep the previous generation going even after the all-new generation 2019 Ram 1500 debuted. This choice was made originally to help supplier difficulties with the launch of the 2019 Ram 1500 debut. The idea makes more sense today due to the success of the rebranded pickup, now dubbed the Ram 1500 Classic.
Much like the modern smartphone market, where all smartphones are on sale alongside their predecessors. Sales are going remarkably well as J.D. Power sales reports have noted that almost a third of a Ram total pickup sales belonged to the previous generation Ram 1500 in the first quarter of 2019.
More About the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic
The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic comes in four trims; the Tradesman, Express, Bighorn and Warlock. Drivers will enjoy the available 5.7-Liter HEMI V8 engine that supplies 395 horsepower, 410 lb-ft of torque and hauls up to 10,710 pounds. This powertrain offers best-in-class available V8 4×4 combined fuel economy. Owners can opt for the 3.6-Liter Pentastar V6 engine that gets 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque or wait for the upcoming 3.0-Liter Ecodiesel V6 engine that offers a remarkable 420 lb-ft of torque and is expected to offer best-in-class fuel economy as well. Drivers can expect solid gas mileage as the Ram 1500 Classic gets up to 17 city and 25 highway mpg.
The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic pairs each engine with its Torqueflite 8 eight-speed automatic transmission that gives owners remarkable acceleration while driving in low gears. Assisting to regulate automatic transmission fluid temperature is a thermal management system that allows increased durability.
Modern Technology Helps the Classic Stand Out
Ram sought out ways to make their pickups ahead of the competition in various ways. Just because they are selling the previous generation pickup, they still offer cutting edge technology that helps owners out. They added Active Air grille shutters that prevent front-end airflow openings to help curb drag and still hold optimal engine temperatures. The shutters open and close depending on the input from the vehicle’s internal system that will direct airflow around the vehicle and improve efficiency. If the pickup is doing tremendous work or being put through the rigors of stop and go traffic, the shutters are wide open to allow the engine to be cooled continuously.
Ram Classic Offers Quite A Lot
The Ram 1500 Classic is not just less expensive, it has features that the current all-new 2019 Ram 1500 pickup does not offer just yet. With all these factors, buyers don’t have a problem opting for the less expensive pickup option. It is still new after all and the base 2019 Ram 1500 Classic begins as low as $42,845 MSRP (plus destination fee). For those who want a solid work truck, they won’t find much better than a brand new 2019 Ram 1500 Classic pickup.
“While there are more trim levels and features with the new-for-2019 Ram 1500, the previous- generation Ram has a lot to offer,” she said. “For example, buyers who are looking for a regular cab Ram can’t currently get a new- for-2019 model with a regular cab, but it’s available as a Ram Classic. You also can’t get an 8-foot bed at all, unless you opt for the Classic,” said Allyson Harwood, associate editor at Kelley Blue Book.
