The newest generation of the Ram 1500, now two years into its run, has won a slew of awards. However, one vehicle that hasn’t received anywhere near the acclaim is the Ram 1500 Classic. Ram decided to turn what was then the 2018 Ram 1500 trucks into slightly modified versions and rebranded the vehicle as a “Classic”. Originally, the Ram 1500 Classic was expected to only last one year; then one year turned into two. Now the Ram brand is going to keep the previous-generation Ram truck as a permanent option.

The History of the Ram Classic

The first Ram 1500 Classic was built as a 2019 model year and its success was noticed. The following year, the Ram 1500 Classic introduced its 2020 model. Now, two years later the 2021 Ram 1500 Classic is set to come out later in the year. The biggest reason is the success that Ram has found with its sales. Ram has even improved the Classic with a trim package for owners to decide on. The starting price is listed at $30,145 MSRP for the 2021 Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman 4×2 Regular Cab. The 3.6-Liter V6 engine is included with the base trim and the optional 5.7-Liter HEMI V8 is an option for customers.  The competition for Ram, like the Chevrolet brand, has adopted this same idea. However, the brand that started this process first is the Ram brand and the Ram 1500 Classic is a bigger truck than the competition.

More For Good News For Ram Customers

That’s not all the Ram brand is looking to do for customers in 2020. Ram wants to add new options and rumors are a future Ram Dakota is a consideration. Keep in mind, this is speculation. For those who want to drive a Ram Classic, there are more coming. The new Ram 1500 Classic can be had for customers to include new features including the optional HEMI powertrain that only sets customers back $1,450. Exactly 18 percent of the Ram sales include the Ram 1500 Classic. That total sales amount reached 633,694 vehicles; a nice amount. The changes to the Ram brand is a welcomed sight for fans of the brand and those who make the decisions.

“These results underscore two significant decisions we have made when it comes to Ram – invest in technology and adopt a three-truck strategy. It has taken some hard work, but it has been a true reward to see how Ram has evolved over the past 10 years,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram and U.S. Sales.
