Jeep has confirmed there will be a new generation Grand Cherokee that goes on sale for the upcoming 2021 model year. The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Head of Design Ralph Gilles and FCA Head of Performance, Passenger, & Utility Exterior Design Mark Trostle revealed in a Facebook Live event the plans for the Grand Cherokee. One thing to keep in mind, this announcement was perhaps a mistake by them. They didn’t realize as they spoke about the plans, but they did confirm the news by saying to the audience about the production and the change coming in 2020. This is the first change to the Grand Cherokee since 2011.

It has survived so beautifully. It’s getting on now, and we’re about to replace it later this year. We’re going to show the new one. I have to respect what it has done for us as a company, and the fact that it has found so many driveways,” Gilles said.

What To Expect With Next-Generation Grand Cherokee

Spy shots have shown the next-generation Grand Cherokee driving around. The experts believe the Grand Cherokee looks quite larger than the current generation. While the style should not see a huge change, the shape of the vehicle is still very much intact. Some reports believe the Grand Cherokee will be riding on the current Alda Romeo’s Giorgio platform, which is the platform for the Giulia and Stelvio models. We’re certain this upcoming generation Jeep Grand Cherokee will uphold a look that differs from the upcoming 2021 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and 2021 Wagoneer, expected to debut after a long hiatus.

What the Future of the Jeep SUV Line-Up Looks Like

Both of the Wagoneer models will be large SUVs apart of the new look Jeep SUV line-up. The Jeep Grand Cherokee moved 242,969 vehicles in 2019 alone, which was the best single total sales year in the history of the vehicle. The current four-generation Grand Cherokee has been a crowd pleaser since the debut of the vehicle in 2011. The expectation is the 2021 Grand Cherokee will debut at the New York International Auto Show, as it has when they revealed the 2009 model year, the SRT Grand Cherokee in 2011, as well as the Hellcat-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk in 2017.
