The New 2019 Ram Heavy Duty Is On The Way

Before long, the newest 2019 Ram HD trucks will debut at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show in January, but prototypes have been spotted and indications are clear changes have been made. While we normally don’t like to speculate, as we have plenty of wonderful new Ram trucks to offer our customers, we will indulge in the speculation for the upcoming Ram Heavy Duty (HD) set to come out in 2019. Let’s see what we can tell thus far!
What We Know (And Don’t Know) So Far
From the LED lights in the rear, they appear to be exactly like the 2019 Ram 1500 tail lights with possible radar sensors to give them blind-spot detection. Two prototypes have been spotted with a raised back height, but all indications show the 2019 Ram HD should have 4-corner air suspension. Ram has provided air suspension in their pickups on heavy-duty trucks in the past, but the question is whether or not they will change their trucks to include a fully adjustable 4-corner air suspension.
Regarding the prototypes that have been caught out in public, they appear to be on the higher end side, possibly a Laramie Longhorn trim. With power folding side steps, LED lighting and the appearance of 20-inch rims wrapped in Firestone tires, there’s a lot that seems to be introduced. While it’s expected the 2019 Ram HD will continue to carry power-folding side mirrors, there’s hope that an eTorque mild-hybrid system will also make its way into the heavy-duty version of the Ram pickup.
While we don’t know the powertrains that will be inside the 2019 Ram HD, all signs point to the monstrous 6.4-Liter HEMI V8 engine. Production for the current 2018 Ram HD truck is set to end after the 2018 model does. This would set it up perfectly for a January Detroit Auto Show debut with first deliveries set to come sometime in March 2019. Mass deliveries will take place later in 2019. It’s still speculation at this point to know if arguably the best feature in the 2019 Ram 1500 will go into the Ram HD – the huge 12-inch infotainment screen.
We do have a feeling the new HD Ram pickup will have a rather large grille and we expect it to have the same trim levels as the light-duty half-ton models: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Power Wagon, Laramie Longhorn, and the Limited.
