2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Will Be the Fastest Sedan Ever
After revealing the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, car enthusiasts immediately asked, “What about the Charger?” The Challenger’s four-door brother has received similar performance options from SRT up till now, so it’s only fitting that it receive the Hellcat treatment. And that could mean a 707-hp sedan could be hitting the streets in the near future.
Since its new five-year brand refresh plan was released by Chrysler earlier this year, it’s clear that Dodge will be after the American car enthusiast. Its partnership with performance brand SRT will be even closer in the coming years as well. Everything from the Dodge Journey to the Dodge Dart will be receiving an SRT variant.
But while the Hellcat Hemi engine is unlikely to be fit for the Journey or Dart, it fits buyers looking for a big performance car perfectly.
Reviving America’s Passion for Driving
If released, the Charger Hellcat would solidify Dodge’s place as the performance car brand for the modern car enthusiast, which is exactly what the company wants. “We build performance cars…we want to bring back America’s passion for driving,” Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said at the Fiat-Chrysler Investor Day meeting after announcing plans for the brand.
And when I say “if released,” I really meant “when.” Because according to Edmunds, the papers have already been filed with the Society of Automotive Engineers that show the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi as “used in” the Challenger and Charger. What we’re waiting on now is an official word from Dodge.
