Trims and Engines
The 2016 Jeep Patriot lineup consists of five different trims, including the Sport, Sport SE, 75th Anniversary Edition, Latitude and High Latitude.
There are two engines available on the 2016 Jeep Patriot models. The base engine is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, but buyers can upgrade to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The base engine gives the Patriot an average fuel economy of 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg when on the highway and a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.
The other available engine on the Patriot lineup is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The slightly larger 2.4-liter engine has a fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway and it also has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.
Although the Patriot is a smaller SUV, it has durable features that make it an off-road capable SUV. The Patriot is available as a two-wheel drive vehicle or it can be equipped with the Jeep’s Freedom I Off-Road 4X4 system or Drive-Freedom II Off-Road 4X4 system.
The Freedom I system comes with brake traction control, a lock mode, Electronically Controlled Coupling (ECC), which takes slippage and turns it into torque. In the toughest of climates and conditions, the system can lock 50/50 to assure ultimate safety and fun.
The Freedom II 4×4 Off-Road Package has a few more features. To enhance the vehicle’s abilities, it has hill descent control and sensing features that help control rock crawling. This system is best for rough conditions even including mud, snow, and up to 19-inches of water.
The interior of the 2016 Jeep Patriot is simple and comfortable. The seats are cloth/vinyl low-bucket seats that are easy to clean and they are heated (except for the Patriot Sports trim) as well. Other standard features include the 60/40 folding rear seat for optimum cargo space and rear seat heat ducts. There is an upgraded leather option for those who want a luxury appeal, as well as available black leather by Mopar. Some other options like mesh seats and power 6-way adjustable front seats are available, too.
The Jeep Patriot is equipped with16-Inch steel wheels and all-season tires, and in case of a flat, a compact spare tire is included. The 2016 Jeep Patriot has a four-star overall crash safety rating from the NHTSA. It is also equipped with active head restraints, electronic roll mitigation, electronic stability control, hill start assist, sentry key, speed control, and multi-stage front airbags. In addition, a rear backup camera is an available option for all Patriot trims.
The 2016 Jeep Patriot is one of the most affordable SUVs on the market. The MSRP for the Patriot base trim is $17,895 and goes up to $22,395 for the highest trim level. Warranties for the Patriot are standard across all Jeep vehicles and include a three year or 36,000-mile basic warranty and a five year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
