The 2016 Ram 1500 Earns Four-Star Safety Rating
The Ram 1500 pickup truck has always been known for its power and capabilities, but many consumers ignore the vehicle’s many safety features. The engineers continued to improve the truck’s safety capabilities for the 2016 model year, and they’ve been awarded a stellar safety grade from the NHTSA.

The results are in, and the 2016 Ram 1500 has earned a four-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The model took home a five-star rating in the side-impact crash testing, and it earned four stars for the front crash and rollover tests. The rollover test is an improvement over the 2015 model, which earned a three-star rating in the same category. This proves that the vehicle’s engineers were sincere when they previously stated a desire to improve the vehicle’s safety scores.
These results don’t come as much of a surprise considering the engineer’s focus on producing a sturdy and protective frame. The pickup includes dynamic front crumple zones and side-impact door beams, which are intended to absorb the brunt of any impact, keeping the vehicle’s occupants safe. The four-wheel disc antilock brakes will prevent wheel lockup, which occurs as your system tries to over adjust on slippery roads. Of course, the side-curtain airbags will provide the vehicle’s occupants with even more protection in case of any accident, and the system deploys at three different speeds based on the force of the collision.
The 1500 also includes the Advanced Stability Control, which helps keep your vehicle on track in the worse conditions. This system includes Hill Start Assist (which helps prevent your vehicle from rolling backwards on hills), Trailer Sway Control (keeps your hauled cargo in line with your truck, preventing any accidents), the Rain Brake Support (adds extra emphasis to the braking when traveling in bad weather), Brake Assist, and Read Alert Braking, two systems that help prevent inevitable collisions.
These safety features are also accompanied by the ParkSense Front Park Assist System. The six sensors are located throughout the front bumper, sending out ultrasonic waves to sense any other objects on the road. These sensors will send out audible or visual warnings whenever they sense any kind of potential danger. Drivers can also take advantage of the Parkview Rear Back-Up Camera, which provides a clear and sharp picture of whatever’s behind your truck. This won’t only make parking easier, but it will also prevent you from crashing into any object hiding behind your vehicle, whether it be another vehicle or a curb.
To put it over the top, the pickup includes the AllSecure Locking System. The technology includes the Vehicle Theft Security System, which will help prevent thieves from getting into your pickup. The system also applies to the RamBox Cargo Management System, where you’ll presumably be storing your most valuable supplies.
As you can see, the 1500 is certainly deserving of the safety accolades. The vehicle’s sturdy body was designed to protect occupants, and the various safety features will only enhance this protection. You can be assured that you and your passengers will always be safe when riding in the upcoming 1500 pickup.
