The 2018 Ram 2500 has several configuration capabilities – eight trim levels, three cab styles, two bed lengths, three engine types and two transmissions. While the 2018 Ram 2500 goes without any major changes for this model year, the optional 8.4-inch touchscreen and Uconnect infotainment system adds a few enticing features like a 4G LTE Wifi hotspot and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support.

The Ram 2500 Limited, Laramie Longhorn, Power Wagon, Limited, Limited Tungsten trims all come standard with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine and a standard six-speed automatic transmission. The 6.4-liter engine produces 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. The 6.4L engine gives the Ram 2500 a maximum towing capacity of 15,470 pounds.
Buyers also have the option of upgrading to a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine for additional torque and towing capabilities. The 6.7L engine produces 660 lb-ft of torque and increases the Ram 2500’s towing capacity to 17,980 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 3,990 pounds.
As previously mentioned, the 2018 Ram 2500 is available in eight trim levels – Tradesman, SLT, Big Horn (Lone Star for buyers in Texas), Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Power Wagon, Limited and Limited Tungsten. On one end of the spectrum is the Ram 2500 Tradesman, the ‘less is more’ workhorse and at the other end is the Ram 2500 Limited Tungsten, which expands the boundaries of pick-up truck luxury.
Cab styles include a two-door regular cab, four-door crew cab, and a four-door mega cab. Crew cab and mega cab models is available with a 6’4” or 8 truck bed, and the regular cab is only offered with an 8’ truck bed. The Tradesman and SLT trims are offered with all three cab sizes, while the Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie Longhorn and Limited trims are available with a crew cab or a mega cab. The off-road trim, the Ram 2500 Power Wagon, is available only in crew cab and short bed only.
Standard equipped convenience features shared by all seven trim levels include, 12-volt auxiliary power outlet, dash liner insulation, driver/ passenger assist handles, electronic vehicle information center, floor tunnel insulation, power accessory delay, power door locks, power front windows with one touch up and down feature, power steering, tilt steering column, tinted glass windows, tinted windshield glass and tip start. Additionally, standard lighting features include cargo and center high-mounted stop lamp and rear dome lamp. Standard only on the Ram 2500 Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Limited and Limited Tungsten trim levels include front door accent lighting, glove box lamp and LED interior lighting.
All 2018 Ram 2500 trim levels share the standard feature of automatic headlamps with the available option of clearance lamps. Fog lamps and under hood lamps are standard equipped on the Ram 2500 Lone Star, Big Horn, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Limited and Limited Tungsten trims. Standard convenience features are shared by all trims are body color fuel filler door, body color headlamp filler panel, fixed long mast antenna and front bumper sight shields. Standard only on the Ram 2500 Limited and Limited Tungsten, but an available upgrade on other trims, is the four-adjustable cargo tie-down hooks, bed cargo divider and extender, and wheel-to-wheel side steps.
The 2018 Ram 2500 has a starting MSRP of $32,245 (plus destination fee). Ram backs the Ram 2500 with a three-year/36,000-mile basic warranty, a five-year/60,000-mile warranty and complimentary roadside assistance for 100,000 miles or 60 months.
