There are eight 2018 Ram 2500 trims and a number of different configurations. Aside from the choice of one of three engines, there’s also the option of two available drivetrains, two truck bed lengths, and three cab sizes available.
The Ram 2500 is available with two drivetrains available – 4×2 and 4×4, except the Ram 2500 Power Wagon is only available with a 4×4 drivetrain. Buyers have the option of three cab sizes for the 2018 Ram 2500. There is the regular two-door cab that seats 2-3 people, depending on the front seat configuration. If looking for more room, for passengers or cargo, then the four-door crew and mega cabs may be just what a buyer needs.The 2018 Ram 2500 has two bed lengths – 6’4” and 8’. The 6’4” truck bed is available on the crew cab and mega cab and the 8’ truck bed is available on the crew cab and the regular cab.
The powerful 5.7L V8 HEMI engine is the base engine on the Ram 2500 lineup. The 5.7L engine features variable valve timing (VVT) technology that optimizes its engine performance and provides greater fuel efficiency. The Ram 2500 is capable of 383 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, and it gives the Ram 2500 a max towing capacity of 13,880 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 3,050 pounds. The 5.7L is also available as a Compressed Natural Gas system for dual-fuel capability.
Available on the 2018 Ram 2500 is the strong 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine. Producing up to 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, this engine provides a max towing capacity of 16,320 pounds and a max payload capacity of 3,890 pounds. Designed with a multi-displacement system (MDS), this engine conserves fuel by turning off half of the vehicle’s cylinders when cruising at steady speeds.ing.
When the 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, the Ram 2500 produces 350 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque, which gives the Ram 2500 a maximum towing capacity of 16,510 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 2,580. The 6-speed automatic transmission increases the truck’s horsepower to 370 horses and 800 lb-ft of torque and gives the Ram 2500 a maximum towing capacity of 17,590 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 2,580 pounds.
On all 2018 Ram 2500s, there is a useful locking tailgate, automatic headlamps, heated exterior mirrors (optional on the Tradesman trim) with the option to add-on mirrors with turn signals and front bumper sight shields. Buyers have the option to add a RamBox Cargo Management System, which is great when carrying smaller items and organizing one’s cargo in the truck bed, LED box lighting is an available option for trims on both models for being able to find one’s cargo in poor visibility. Wheel sizes range from 17-20 inches and wheel materials range from steel to aluminum.

Optional features available on high-tier trims, such as substituting the front bench seat with bucket seats, leather upholstery, heated front seats and second row seats, ventilated front seats, auto a/c temperature control, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, rubber floor mats, a power sunroof, LED interior lighting, and more.
The standard speaker system on the 2018 Ram 2500 is a six-speaker system with a 5-inch color touchscreen display. Integrated voice command with Bluetooth, a media hub, a complimentary one-year subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio, and Uconnect 3.0 are standard on the 2018 Ram 2500. Some Ram 2500 trims come standard with Uconnect 4C with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto, which provide drivers with an easy way to use their smartphone while keeping their hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road. Optional navigation via Uconnect is available and an upgradable sound system provides a 9-speaker Alpine system with a subwoofer is also available on select trims.
