2019 Ram 1500 vs 2019 GMC Sierra: Luxury Trucks
If you can’t wait for the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 like us, then you know the period of time before its available at the dealership can be frustrating. With nothing else better to do than reaffirm the power of Ram trucks by comparing them to the competition, we can only do so much before we’re able to drive the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 ourselves! So how does the competition stack up? Let’s find out.
All-New 2019 Ram 1500
First things first, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 pickup has already been named “Best of Show” by Cars.com to open 2018. It also raised the bar among fans and critics alike by becoming lighter, stronger and upgrading throughout.
The redesigned 2019 Ram 1500 comes with an all-new eTorque 48-volt mild hybrid system, which supplies better fuel economy for both V6 and V8 engines and it also increases torque, which is very important when it comes to towing.
On the technology front, Ram upgraded everything, especially for the luxury trims. Every all-new 2019 Ram 1500 is available with an optional large 12-inch touchscreen and the most up-to-date Uconnect 4 system and both features enhance the vehicle’s entertainment and tech capabilities. Also available is 4G WiFi hotspot availability and a 360-degree camera and exclusive content direct from SiriusXM with 360L.
Perks of the 2019 Ram 1500 Luxury trims
The 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn interior takes comfort a step further with a standout two-tone color, emboss alligator skin pattern leather throughout and full-grain leather dashboard that really sets the tone for luxury. Patches and built in embroidered patterns that say Laramie Longhorn Edition can be found throughout the interior, including the high end treatment found in the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited.
The 2019 Ram 1500 Limited provides the 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, dual-split screen function, SiriusXM 360, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Harmon Kardon 19 speakers with subwoofer, active noise cancellation and stands out amongst the luxury trims of the competition. The 2019 Ram 1500 Limited is also wide and spacious with 45.1 inches of legroom.
GMC Does Their Best to Keep Up
The new 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali has gotten some attention for looking bigger than a light-duty half-ton. While the new Sierra 1500 crew cab is larger than before, GMC has only made promises so far about having best-in-class headroom and legroom. The 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 is noticeably less roomy at 40 inches of legroom, nearly half a foot less of total space than the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited.
The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali is equipped with premium leather and real open-pore wood trim finishes with aluminum accents to give customers a high end look. Included are LED headlights, fog lights and fancy wheels that are sized up to 22 inches and the truck lost around 300 pounds by adding aluminum to the truck’s doors and hood.
GMC has also claimed to have best-in-class cargo box measurements with 63 cubic-feet of space, but this hasn’t been shown to the public yet. One thing that is certain of the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali is that their GMC IntelliLink infotainment system only has an 8-inch screen. That’s not even close to the 2019 Ram 1500, which is available with a 12-inch reconfigurable touchscreen.
GMC Leaves More Questions Than Answers
There’s no doubt there’s a lot left to learn about the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 as the debut didn’t come with official numbers for the horsepower, torque, towing or payload numbers. They have mentioned a plan to offer a new 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder diesel engine. However, we’ve seen enough to know what pickup and luxury pickups we want to drive, and that’s the all-new 2019 Ram 1500.
