Soon enough, the brand-new 2020 Ram HD truck will make its first appearance at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show in January. The prototypes have been spotted, and evidence shows many changes are coming. While we normally don’t like to speculate, as we have plenty of wonderful new Ram trucks to offer our customers, we will entertain the chatter for the upcoming Ram Heavy Duty (HD), arranged to begin in 2019. A bigger, stronger version of the new 2019 Ram 1500 is expected to take Ram Trucks to the next level with this upcoming 2020 HD version. Ready to find out more?

All The Facts So Far

Several models (though covered up) have been seen with a lifted back height, but all signs show the 2020 Ram HD will have 4-corner air suspension. Ram has delivered air suspension in their pickups on heavy-duty trucks in the past, but the issue is whether or not they will convert their trucks to include a fully adjustable 4-corner air suspension. The LED lights in the rear look very similar to the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 tail lights and they are likely to include radar sensors, promoting blind-spot detection.

Regarding the prototypes that have been caught out in public, they appear to be on the higher end side, possibly a Laramie Longhorn trim. With power folding side steps, LED lighting and the appearance of 20-inch rims wrapped in Firestone tires, there’s a lot that seems to be introduced. While it’s expected the 2020 Ram HD will continue to carry power-folding side mirrors, there’s hope that an eTorque mild-hybrid system will also make its way into the heavy-duty version of the Ram pickup. The deviation from established Ram HD style signals the removal of the crosshair grille; the grille was smartly made not as large as General Motors went with the upcoming Silverado HD.

Engines Equipped On the Ram HD

Unfortunately, we are not sure of the exact powertrains that will be available on the 2020 Ram HD. We would bet that the enormous 6.4-Liter HEMI V8 engine might be one option. By January 2019, the Detroit Auto Show debut will let us know soon enough; even better consumers can be happy knowing first deliveries will be arriving around March 2019. It’s gambling at this point to know if arguably the best feature in the 2020 Ram 1500, the massive 12-inch touchscreen console, will be apart of the Ram HD infotainment system. We’re hopeful that it will as the footlong screen is glorious and has been well received.

The new HD Ram pickup will most likely include all the same trim levels as the light-duty half-ton models: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Power Wagon, Laramie Longhorn, and the Limited. There’s no surprise expected there. If there’s any Ram pickup that’s currently on the market that has drawn attention and peaked intrigue, try it today with us at Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram.
