Dodge Is Not For Sale Says CEO

September 6th, 2024 by

CEO Kendall Dodge

As we move closer to the launch of all-new Dodge rides, they will continue to be built and manufactured by Stellantis. Just last month Stellantis rejected a rather massive request by Frank Rhodes Jr. to buy back Chrysler and Dodge brands. He is great-grandson of the Chrysler brand’s founder who had sent a letter to Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares and the Chrysler brand’s CEO Christine Feuell. In this letter, Rhodes hoped to “keep [Chrysler/Dodge, Plymouth/Mopar brands] in the USA with stockholder and employee control.” Rhodes wrote the letter as a part of the recently formed Chrysler/Dodge, LLC.

Dodge Excels Despite Sales In First Half of 2024

Stellantis remains committed to seeing their brands have longevity. For buyers, they want innovation and will be rewarded soon. Taking a look at the scope of intrigue in its North American brands, Stellantis has put forth a strong commitment to every brand under their control. With a grand total of 14 well-known brands, which were each given a 10-year period to consider a profitable and sustainable catalog of electrified and awesome vehicles. The official statement by Stellantis involving their work to push their unique brand included this passage;

“Like the Jeep and Ram brands, Chrysler and Dodge are the forefront of Stellantis transformation to clean mobility, benefitting from the Group’s cutting-edge technology and scale. The Company is not pursuing splitting off any of its brands.”

The first half of 2024 hasn’t produced the amount of EVs and profit that was expected but, Tavares announced Stellantis will move on from brands deemed unprofitable, but swiftly  walked back that proclamation. Tavares has also taken accountability for Stellantis’ subpar results thus far in North America overall. Tavares has known the Dodge brand is going to rebound from any slowing sales when the first-ever Dodge EV is launched; the famed Dodge Charger Daytona

Amping Up the Drama A Little Before EV Era

Stellantis is currently feeling pressure in Europe and the United States. Tavares visited Detroit recently to see the current state of operations and develop a strategy to set the company on the right path in North America. Meanwhile, in Europe, the government of Italy has pressed the Stellantis plans to include changes that promote better fuel economy across various brands with a request to know their plans going forward.

Business won’t be business as usual for the Stellantis group and their vehicles, not for governments, buyers and readers that think gasoline rides will be around forever. While the new Charger Daytona will eventually offer a gasoline option, that’s some time away after the debut with the EV coming first in the debut.
