Dodge is surfacing with a plethora of new vehicles set to debut with its first electrified lineup. The 2023 Dodge Hornet is the debut of such rides as this first electrified model in the storied history of Dodge recently came out. The Dodge V8 halo cars are set to be a thing of the past, so buying Dodge now is the play.

A major focus for Dodge in the upcoming years is on the SUV line-up that will see some adjustments. Reports are indicating that the Dodge Durango SUV will be eventually replaced in favor of a new model with a familiar nameplate. MotorTrend has said that the Durango name being is retired to return the Dodge Stealth. For those who recall the Stealth, this era the car will not be a unique, futuristic two-door sports coupe. While we have seen the special plans Dodge has made to punch forward with electrified technology in their muscle cars

Removing the Durango For A Stealth Return

The new Dodge nameplate won’t mean the total removal of the Dodge Durango SUV, but perhaps in some ways for the current future that might be the case. One report has added the Dodge Durango will move up a bit to match the Jeep Wagoneer in size and remain on its body-on-frame platform if it is not retired. If this report is accurate, the revamped Stealth will still serve as a fine Durango SUV replacement to keep a name and option in the segment;  the three-row SUV segment that’s constructed on a unibody with truck-underlying platform. So, what was the Stealth like and how will it change?

What Exactly Was the Dodge Stealth?

What was the original Dodge Stealth like? For our younger readers, back in the 1990s, the Stealth was a hot item as a sports coupe. The Dodge sports effort was actually built as a collaborated effort with Mitsubishi. The equivalent Mitsubishi was the fan-favorite 3000GT, a sports ride that has become a more widely remembered on its own. MotorTrend has added that the Stealth will become the next vehicle built on the Stellantis built Jeep Grand Cherokee L WL platform. One report adds could also find a home on the STLA Large platform, which was constructed for EVs and some hybrids. We anticipate the Stealth will debut as a hybrid, not a full-on EV. Perhaps, Dodge will add its turbocharged Hurricane engine with a bit of hybridization to power the Stealth. Pricing has reportedly already been built, with the forthcoming Dodge Stealth set to debut with a price point of about $40,000 MSRP (Plus destination fee).
