Dodge Tops Mustang and Camaro Sales After Second Quarter of 2021
Dodge started July with fireworks after learning the results of the second quarter of 2021. The 2021 Dodge Challenger outsold the Ford Mustang and this is particularly big news considering the grip Ford has held on the muscle car segment in recent years, up until the Dodge brand ramped up its production with the most impressive and immensely strong vehicles to date. Now, the muscle car champion is the premier Dodge muscle coupe, the famed Challenger. The race between the Dodge and its rival brands is only heating up.
How Much More the Challenger Sold Over Rivals
The newest Challenger has perks that extend beyond the segment. With the strength in numbers, the breakdown highlights the tremendous strides by Dodge. The difference between these rival brands shows in total inventory movement. The 2021 Ford Mustang sold 14,676 vehicles, facing a 6.6 percent decline from the previous year (2020). The jump for Dodge was an increase of 52 percent compared to last year, definitely a giant leap with no problem coming from COVID-19 this year. The production of Dodge vehicles is ramped back up with inventory in better shape, though there will be even more muscle cars coming in as the months continue. The total number of Dodge Challenger vehicles sold was 15,052 total. That number is nearly 13,000 more than the Chevrolet Camaro. The Camaro is hanging on by a thread, the Chevy muscle car
2022 Dodge Challenger Coming Out Soon
On the heels of this good news, the 2022 Dodge Challenger will come out before the results of the third quarter of 2021. The summer of muscle will heat up with each new release that debuts, as the Charger and Challenger models will stick around for one more year in their current state before the eventual change comes to both of these Dodge muscle car options. A refresh is long overdue, but we aren’t complaining with the fact Dodge has increased the perks of their muscle car lineup with each year resulting in a more complete Dodge driving experience.
Dodge has also transitioned away from the yellow splitter guards that uneducated Dodge owners have kept on their vehicles after purchasing a pink splitter guard. The pink and black look is appealing for local Miami fans, if they are a fan of the Miami Heat of course. For those who don’t like pink, well, maybe they can finally take off the splitter guard that can cause the paint to weaken and chip off faster if kept on after a purchase. After all, splitter guards are only placed to ensure the bumper isn’t damaged during the original delivery to a dealership.
We know Dodge is producing a future that will focus on electric vehicles, but for now, we embrace the power of Dodge muscle as the celebration of winning a quarter’s worth of sales over the competition is something we are proud of at Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram.
