As one of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ (FCA) best-selling brands, Jeep will see some changes to enhance their model lineups in 2017. While some of the Jeep model lineups, like the Compass, Patriot and Wrangler, will get slightly smaller, the all-new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will strengthen the next model year’s Grand Cherokee lineup. Here are the new model details.

All-New 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk

Expected to be available in the late summer of 2017, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will join the Jeep lineup as the third Jeep model with a Trailhawk trim. Like the Renegade Trailhawk and Cherokee Trailhawk, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is specifically built for off-roading.

This new rugged Grand Cherokee model will be equipped with a variety of features that will help it conquer the toughest terrain. The new Trail Rated Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will ride on 18-inch Goodyear Adventure off-road tires with Kevlar reinforcement and skid plates, which help to protect the vehicle’s underbody, will be standard. The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will also have Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system with rear Electronic Limited-slip Differential (ELSD) and a unique version of Grand Cherokee’s Quadra-Lift air suspension – developed for specifically for Trailhawk models.

Unlike other Grand Cherokee models, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will have an increased ground clearance of 10.8 inches and approach angles on the Jeep Grand Cherokee are 29.8 degrees or 36.1 degrees when the lower front fascia is removed for severe off-roading.

Though rugged, this new Grand Cherokee will offer drivers comfort even in tough conditions. The interior of the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is fitted with a few convenience features, like suede seating, a rearview camera and an 8.4-inch touchscreen.

Among other changes in 2017, all Jeep models will have standard or available headlight upgrades. Following up on the below-average results from almost all car brands in the 2016 IIHS headlight study, the Jeep brand was quick to make improvements. New headlights options will increase a driver’s night-time visibility by means of new LED lighting or high-intensity discharge headlights.
