Increase Your Jeep’s Ride Height with a Lift Kit

November 20th, 2017 by

The Jeep Wrangler is an SUV for all purposes including family trips, adventure, work and more and one thing Jeep owners have one thing in common, they like to modify! One of the mostcommon mods for a Wrangler is a lift kit, so keep reading if you want to learn more about lift kits.

What is a Lift Kit?

A Wrangler lift kit is a great edition to the SUV for those looking to increase ride height. There are several different types of lift kits, the most popular being a suspension lift. Other lift types include body lifts and coil spacers. Suspension lifts are designed specifically to increase ground clearance by adding suspension height. Lifts vary from a couple inches to a foot or higher. The body lift is an inexpensive way to lift a Jeep by adding spacers, however, spacers can only add up to an extra 3-inches of ride height.

Why a Lift Kit?

There are plenty of reasons to get a Wrangler lift kit!

Bigger tires

The higher the lift, the bigger the wheels and tires can be under the Jeep! Most people like to add the lift and tires all at once. Larger tires have many benefits of their own explained below.

Ground Clearance

Ground clearance, also referred to as ride height, is added with both a lift and larger tires. The higher the ground clearance, the more capable off-road. This is particularly helpful for those who rock crawl, which is something Jeeps, especially the Wrangler are known for.

Jeep’s already have a sporty and aggressive style, but adding a lift and bigger tires give a Jeep a more personal and unique look.

Again, with higher ground clearance comes better capability. Generally lifts are for style or off-road purposes, but it doesn’t hurt to have higher water fording for flooding or better capability during snow (for those up north).
