More On 2020 Jeep Gladiator Mojave, First-Ever Desert Rated Jeep

There is only one Jeep pickup that customers can buy today. The new 2020 Gladiator is a finely tuned machine, and now it has its first-ever Jeep Desert Rated badge. The New 2020 Jeep Gladiator Mojave was created and built specifically for high-speed off-road performance. Some imagine there will be a Desert Rated Wrangler, but there has not been any confirmation. The future for both the Wrangler and Gladiator will be helping customers enjoy more adventures and there will be few options on the road that can stand up to the rigorous trails when going off-road, but one vehicle is going to be ready from day one.
“A natural extension of our legendary Trail-Rated 4×4 capability leadership,” said FCA North America Jeep Brand chief Jim Morrison.
Mojave Jeep Gladiator Gets the Green Light
Few off-road vehicles were made to enjoy the beaten paths of trails, but even fewer can handle sand dunes. As rival brands like the Ford F-150 Raptor, Toyota’s TRD Pro model, Chevy Colorado ZR2 and others will try to please customers with the off-road element, but the Jeep Gladiator has something extra. The 2020 Gladiator Mojave was made to thrill through the unique environment of sand. This new Mojave is akin to a Gladiator Rubicon, 33-inch-tall tires, live axles with 4.10:1 gear, and a two-speed low-range transfer case. Keep in mind, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that is primarily made to travel over rocks and trails, the Mojave has been created to go at high speeds through desert sands and let owners explore like never before. The terrain of sand is unique, but Jeep has spent a lot of time working with engineers to built this Gladiator.
From Concept To Actual Vehicle
Jeep took a cue from its own concept, the Jeep Sandstorm, to form the basis of the Gladiator Mojave. Jeep has upgraded parts of the Gladiator with 2.5-inch Fox internal-bypass dampers and rides higher up than the original Gladiator. Made to absorb large impacts with the help of external fluid reservoirs that are better at removing the heat buildup that can lower a damper’s effectiveness. Fox hydraulic jounce dampers—heavy-duty, short-stroke shock absorbers common on off-road racing vehicles—are fitted to the front bump stops to keep the suspension from bottoming out.
The Mojave comes with Falken Wildpeak All-Terrain tires, cast-iron steering knuckles, a stiffer rear axle made of thicker tubing, 17-inch wheels, the Jeep Gladiator Mojavehas gained modifications to improve high-speed stability and toughness over gnarly, uneven sand terrain. The Gladiator Mojave can deal with impacts and curb strikes with more ease and less bucking than the latest Rubicon trim. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Mojave has a starting price of the $43,875 MSRP (Plus destination fee) and offers a load of optional features including automatic transmission, leather upholstery as well as an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen.
“We went to the five-link coil-spring suspension in the rear, hydro-mounts on the C-pillars and powertrain to help with shake and ride comfort, and we really focused on towing to ensure an extremely competitive tow rating. We had to make some adjustments, including engine cooling, braking and the Class IV hitch,” says Gladiator chief engineer Pete Milosavlevski
