One of the main reasons customers opt to drive a heavy-duty truck is strength. The breed of new Ram pickups have been more powerful than ever before and the Ram HD collection for the 2021 model year has earned a new distinction; the heavy-duty torque towing record. The main metric to which this is illustrious trait is measured is looking at the torque and towing rating. Some of the biggest rigs in the world still pale in comparison to the measures Ram has taken with its new 2021 Ram 3500 pickups. As 2020 ends, the Ram brand offers the 3500 Heavy Duty with 1,075 lb-ft of torque; the most torque available in the entire segment.

How Much Could Any Driver Tow With a Ram 3500 HD?

The 2021 Ram 3500 HD carries an unreal 37,100 pounds of maximum towing capacity. The best part is that figure is very real and to put it in perspective of much weight that truly is, allow us to name things that the 2021 Ram 3500 HD could haul. The weight of a bull is around 2,400 pounds. One of the largest and most famous wrestlers of all-time, Andre the Giant, weighted a rumored 520 pounds. The weight of the Ram 3500 is 11,400 pounds. Adding all three of these together is 14,320 pounds, meaning a driver could not only haul those three items but in fact, the Ram 3500 HD could tow double that amount and still have enough power to tow another three bulls with weight to spare.

How Did Ram Manage To Pull This Off?

While the competition is working to catch up with all the luxurious aspects Ram has included in both its light-duty and heavy-duty pickups, the truth is the Ram brand has sought to increase its payload and towing capacity first and foremost. The 2021 Ram 3500 has increased its torque rating by 75 pounds despite keeping the same, massive and impressive engine. The 6.7-Liter Cummins inline-six turbodiesel has seen an increase in the turbocharger’s boost pressure and amped up the fuel flow for greater strength. The V8 engine of the Ram 3500 is ahead of the Ford Super Duty by 55 lb-ft of torque and ahead of the Silverado HD by 25 lb-ft of torque.

This is the definition of being ahead of the curve and the perks added to the 2021 model year Ram 3500 didn’t stop with its improved torque rating. Ram added a new digital rear-view mirror, which helps owners who regularly haul loads that block the rear window and rear-view mirror.
