Ram Packages Add Features and Comfort to Trims

April 30th, 2018 by

Ram is a great brand for people in search of a truck that is more than just a truck for work. Ram trucks are available in a number of configurations, trims, colors, and there are a large amount of standard and available features.

One way for buyers to easily ensure their Ram pickup truck will have the features they want is to select one or more of the available groups or packages. The Ram 1500, Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 are all available with more than a dozen groups or packages and they range from appearance packages that give a truck a particular look, to interior packages that include select interior features or packages that offer a mix of interior and exterior features. Here’s a look at three of the most popular group packages offered on the Ram 2500.

Luxury Group

Available on any configuration of the Ram 2500 SLT, Lone Star, Big Horn and Power Wagon trims

The luxury trims on the Ram 2500 include the Laramie, Laramie Longhorn and Limited, but not every buyer wants to be limited to one of those trims, so Ram introduced the Luxury Group to give buyers luxury features on luxury trims.

The Luxury Group includes a lot of convenience features that make everyday life a little easier. The vehicle’s exterior mirrors have turn signals, and they are heated and power folding. The package includes sun visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, an overhead console with a universal garage door opener, a glove box lamp and auto-dimming exterior mirror.

Off-Road Package

Available on all Ram 2500 trims equipped with 4×4 drivetrain and crew cab or mega cab, excludes Ram 2500 Power Wagon

The available off-road package includes a few different components that better prepare a Ram 2500 to conquer unpaved roads. The package includes Hill Descent Control, a trasfer case skid plate, an off-road decal and most configurations receive tow hooks. Hills descent control is a feature that functions when the truck is moving below 30 mph and is going down hills. The feature uses the electronic brake control and engine braking to sense terrain conditions and it will automatically slow the vehicle if the terrain is rough. Hill Descent Control also notifies drivers when the brakes are getting too hot and need to be stopped to allow the vehicle’s brakes to cool. The transfer case skid plate protects the vehicle’s 4×4 transfer case from being damaged by debris and the tow hooks are great for situations when the truck is being used to move a vehicle that is stuck.

Sport Appearance Group

Available on all Ram 2500 configurations of the Lone Star, Big Horn and Laramie trims

The Sport Appearance Group includes a mix of luxury, convenience and appearance features for both the interior and exterior of the truck.

The Sport Appearance Group has a lot of black exterior features including black headlamps, flat black badges, black mirrors and black tail lamps. In addition to the black features other exterior features include bi-function halogen projector headlamps, Bilstein® front and rear performance tuned shock absorbers, 20-inch chrome wheels and on/off road tires.

The interior features included in the Sport Appearance Group are mainly luxury features. The Sport Appearance Group features a leather-trimmed front bench seat, which means the cabin has seating for six passengers, folding flat load floor storage, front center seat cushion storage, high back seats, and ventilated front seats.
