The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Is the Top-Selling EV According to Sales
The latest results of automotive sales have shown us that the Jeep brand is as popular as ever. Half way through 2021, the new reports show in the second quarter of 2021, Jeep increased its sales in the U.S. by 32% year-over-year to 485,312 vehicles sold. The company has not reported their plug-in electric car purchases, but declared that the Jeep Wrangler 4xe has “quickly became the No. 1 best-selling plug-in hybrid in the marketplace.” After half of the year, results appear to have shown the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is the top-selling PHEV in the U.S. up to this point. How the Jeep brand continues to build on this momentum will be shown in the coming months and years.
“The Jeep brand continues its trailblazing performance, recording a 19% increase in total sales year-over-year, and its second best ever second quarter for U.S. retail sales. Wrangler recorded its best quarter ever for U.S. retail sales, while Gladiator posted its best quarter ever for U.S. retail sales, as well as U.S. total sales with 29,962 vehicles. The Jeep lineup continues to grow. Since the full launch of the Wrangler 4xe earlier this year, it quickly became the No. 1 best-selling plug-in hybrid in the marketplace.”
The Numbers For the Jeep Brand Go Up
Since Jeep doesn’t reveal their data, we can look up the next highest listed. The second highest total belongs to the Toyota Prius Prime sales. The 2nd quarter sales amounted to 11,863 vehicles, we suspect that the Jeep Wrangler 4xe would have to be at least at about 12,000 vehicles. The next move for Jeep involves getting closer to holy grail of EVs; an entire lineup of EVs. That could one day be the future for the entire lineup. The next move is to add the new Jeep Grand Cherokee L to the lineup as we have already learned the next EV to come to a new Jeep.
The Future of the Jeep Brand Is In EVs
It’s possible, because the Jeep Wrangler (all versions) noted 69,020 sales, but quite remarkable that the 4xe is doing so well. Customers probably highly appreciate the support of electric drive in off-roading as well as advanced fuel economy in EV mode while driving. Jeep is ready later this year to introduce an all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee two-row (including 4xe electrified version). A similar situation concerns the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid plug-in hybrid minivan – the sales results are reportedly good (the best second-quarter ever), but FCA does not reveal the number.
“Total sales of the Chrysler brand increased 36% to 18,900 vehicles compared to Q2 of last year, driven by the Chrysler 300 and Chrysler Pacifica. The Pacifica Hybrid, the minivan segment’s first-ever hybrid vehicle and the only plug-in hybrid minivan, also recorded its best ever second quarter total sales.”
