The Future of American HD Pickups: Ram Leads the Way

Americans want to drive pickups more than ever, especially large ones that provide the ability to haul anything needed, yet have an interior that’s modern and luxurious. That’s what Ram has built with their most recent pickups and heavy-duty models. More so than their competition Ram is seeking to allow customers to find their perfect truck with the help of new options, new powertrains, and new features. Let’s take a look into the upcoming HD trucks that will soon be available for customers.
A New Day for HD Choices
Most recently, the 2019 Ram HD lineup of 2500 and 3500 trucks will have nearly 60 trims to choose from! The base model 2019 Ram 2500 Tradesman regular cab 4×2 is the lowest cost at $33,395 MSRP (plus destination fee). How expensive is the highest trim on the Ram 3500 HD Limited Mega Cab 4×4? The starting price isn’t a pricy as one would expect at $67,050 MSRP (plus destination fee).
“In launching the new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty pickups and Chassis Cab trucks, we knew it was important to offer class-leading capability, features, and technology. But it’s also important to offer our great products at a competitive price. We feel that we’ve delivered the right mix that Ram Truck customers – across a broad spectrum – will appreciate,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Truck Brand – FCA
Underneath the Ram HD’s Hood
Ram has just released the latest 6.4-Liter HEMI V8 in combination with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The engine is still rated at 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, but the new chassis and vibration/noise reduction allow the 6.4-Liter to run in four-cylinder mode more often than before. Ram owners can choose to upgrade to the 6.7-Liter Cummins Turbo Diesel with 6-speed automatic transmission is $9,100 with an optional 1,000 lb-ft of torque Cummins High Output (3500 only) and is combined with the Aisin 6-speed transmission is $11,795. The 2019 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cab will launch a new generation of work trucks that are ahead of the competition with more durability and comfort than any heavy-duty truck on the market.
A Look at the Competition
General Motors has released a new 6.6-Liter gas V8 with direct injection and official ratings of 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque with their upcoming HD trucks. This new V8 will be mated to GM’s updated 6-speed automatic. This engine for GM and their Chevrolet brand pails in comparison to the power in the latest Ram HD. Consider the power of the Ram Heavy Duty with the segment’s highest torque ratings, highest towing rating at 35,100 pounds and the highest payload at 7,860 pounds. The 2019 Ram HD will carry more than just remarkable powertrains.
Ram Provides the Latest Features
Owners will enjoy the newest features and technologies to help make hitching easier than ever. Complete with a 360-degree surround-view camera, a cargo-view camera with dynamic gridlines and auxiliary camera with a bed-lowering mode, there’s never been an easier way to start the towing process. Other new features include adaptive cruise control and Forward Collision Warning as well. These new 2019 Ram HD trucks will offer the best of materials and innovation to set its self apart.
