Unique Engine Swap on a Jeep Wrangler
Swapping engines in vehicles happen a little more often than most people realize. There was the guy who put the R6 motorcycle engine in a Fiat, and the guy who put a Harley V2 engine in a Prius. Recently a new engine swap video has emerged, and it is a must see.
Jeep owner, Matt Farah decided to swap out his engine for a new engine and he put a little extra power under the hood of his 6-cylinder YJ Jeep Wrangler. And by a little, we mean he put the engine from a V8 1995 Lexus LS400 with nearly 200,000 miles on it. With only $250 for the used engine, the owner got a 32-valve, double-overhead-cam V8 with 256 hp and 353 lb-ft of torque.
According to Car Buzz, to get the engine to work in his Wrangler, Matt also had to use a Toyota 4Runner Flywheel, Camaro clutch disc, Jeep NP231 transfer case, and a 1967 Chevy SM420 4-speed transmission.
In the video you can watch him drive his fast Wrangler through many muddy trails. He is also shown pulling another Wrangler out of a few feet of muddy water. Check it out for yourself, https://youtu.be/mqbtGYW23Ks (His co-pilot and videographer could have used and steady-cam!)
Canāt decide if he is crazy, or awesome. Either way, the video will no doubt provide entertainment for Jeep lovers all over.
