All-Wheel-Drive Dodge Challenger GT AWD is First of Its Kind

The consumers asked and Dodge responded. Those who live in areas that get ice and snow now have the option to get a muscle car that can handle winter– the fast, powerful and capable all-new 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD. The new all-wheel-drive Challenger is the world’s first AWD muscle coupe.

Power Specs

The Dodge Challenger GT AWD will come standard with Dodge’s powerful 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which produces up to 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission paired to the engine is an eight-speed automatic that gives the Challenger GT a fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

The AWD system is the same AWD system that is available on the AWD Dodge Charger models. To allow for perfect performance and handling the AWD system comes with an active transfer case and front-axle disconnect. Front-axle disconnect means that the front axle is only engaged when the system detects a need for it, otherwise the car is rear-wheel-drive. In addition, the vehicle comes with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), which allows better handling and control on all surfaces including ice.

If all that isn’t enough, the Challenger GT AWD also comes with paddle shifters and sport mode. The sport mode creates faster gear changes and higher revs so it allows for a faster, yet still controlled and safe ride. Finally, the GT AWD features a three mode Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with a “full-off” mode that allows for drifting in snowy and icy conditions (not that we recommend you do that!).

When it comes to style, the Challenger GT AWD of course encompasses the classic Challenger look. The vehicle is heavy, boxy, and a sport coupe to the core. Features of the GT AWD include a split grille, a power bulge hood, and LED halo headlamps and taillamps. Other features like 19-inch Hyper Black finish wheels, BSW all-season performance tires, projector lights, and a rear spoiler are in place for both style and performance.

The interior of the Challenger GT AWD is different than any other Challenger model and is unique to it’s own brand. Features of the GT interior package like suede seats and Nappa leather seats come standard in the GT AWD model. The features of the interior allow for a luxury feel inside of a rugged beast.

Technology, as always is important to Dodge no matter what vehicle. The Challenger GT AWD model is loaded with amazing and standard technology features you won’t find standard in other sport coupes. Features like and 8.4-inch UConnect display screen with Apple Play and Android Auto capabilities, six Alpine speakers with a subwoofer, and a universal garage door opener are just some of the many standard tech features you will find in the new Challenger GT AWD.

Keep an eye out for the all-new 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD coming to Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram soon. Until then, check out our large inventory of Challenger vehicles here.
